I feel like he would be signed as a midfielder
Yeah I think we got caught out by pacy attackers a lot last year. We need a balance, you're correctTechnical ability always trumps pace as a requirement in an individual player but you have to have it in the team. Like everything in life, you have to get the balance right.
Did you see our back 4 when 1 on 1 with any of these below?
Which happens quite a lot the way Pep plays.
Last year Chelsea at home and Liverpool & Leicester away spring to mind - critical games we lost due to no pace at the back! (guessing Kompany wasn't fit for either game)
Mohammed Salah
Marcus Rashford
Jamie Vardy
Shane Long
Eden Hazard
Sadio Mane
Lanzinni...etc etc
The main goal of the high defensive line is to reduce the spaces and make attacking team more compact. It's done to make pressing possible. Pep's 'high' pressing and deep def. line are mutually exclusive.Read his last sentence..... he's spot on!
Why the fuck are people on here so obsessed with speed?
Spot on.Just a reminder that Javi Martinez has spent the last 5 years playing in a high line defence, in a league where the dominant tactic is counterattacking.
