Javi Martinez

Which is why every man and his dog have been barking that he will adapt his tactics, this will evolve 100%, with this notion of being compact non exclusive...

The high line last year was a safety measure due to the inability of the back line, it will naturally sit more deep to draw teams on, and passing between the lines. You only have to look at the influence of komps when he came back in. The idea of the press is turnover of the ball, we have already shown that we can out pass anyone domestically, however, poor when the back line is pressed, this will be a common feature of the team next year as we will have the players to now do it justice!!!
You'll see that I'm right next season. Highline and pressing is basically the core of Pep's game, City won't play deep line while he's here.

Have never rated Martinez even when he played midfield before being shunted into a makeshift CB. Watched him many times last season and he made some howlers gifting goals to the opposition. Another of those players that just seems like an accident waiting to happen.
On the plus side however he can play the ball out from the back which is obviously a Pep prerequisite.

I can't believe anyone actually, genuinely thinks this.

At one point in Pep Confidential, I think one of the coaching staff says Javi Martinez is the best CB, pivot and attacking midfielder in the team. He's routinely talked up for his understanding of the game, and his role in Pep changing tactics mid-game.

"decent squad player" FFS, if he stayed fit I doubt he'd miss a single game for us.I get the injury record worries, I sort of understand reservations about speed (although I think they're completely wrong), but actually thinking he's not good? Bloody hell.

I just don't rate him particularly highly. I've never seen anything from him that justifies the esteem with which some seem to hold him. For me, his lack of pace is not so important. Xabi Alonso wasn't exactly quick, but he was one hell of a player.

Answer me this... Why do Bayern seemingly wilfully sell him to us without making a fuss? I don't see many Bayern fans disappointed to see him go either.

You keep using this word 'high line'.... nobody's Is saying that the press isn't fundamental, however, if he does not adapt, which is what he's alluded to 300 or odd bloody times, in the prem the system he's applied historically will he flawed...

Let's see who's right as I'll bow to the genius of the man who is flapping we may pay 50m for him....

The news literally came out and you have a consensus on what all their fans are thinking?
