Jayden Braaf joins Borussia Dortmund on a permanent deal

"The young Dutchman first arrived in Dortmund in the summer from Manchester City, prompting instant and likely premature comparisons to Jadon Sancho. Unfortunately, Braaf’s time with BVB has not gone nearly as smoothly as Sancho’s. In seven appearances with Borussia Dortmund II in the 3. Liga, he has yet to score a goal, and according to Kicker, has not acclimated well to the club. Per their report, he has acted out in training and has frequently shown up late to team practices. The young Dutchman first arrived in Dortmund in the summer from Manchester City, prompting instant and likely premature comparisons to Jadon Sancho. Sounds a familiar story from his reported attitude when he was invited to train with the seniors here sadly - all the latent in the world and a bad attitude ruins it

Seems to be a sorry tale of him perhaps believing his own hype.

Not sure what the problem is with several young players that they believe that everything is going to be easy and just fall into place without realising that hard work and dedication is needed to be successful.

Maybe seeing Sancho succeed at Dortmund has created the wrong impression , but now he's moved to the rags, even he has been failure and struggling for a place in the team. And the comments from Ten Haag suggests he has a number of issues.

Expecting too much too soon looks like the problem from the outside lokking in.

Braaf, Matondo, Barker, Roberts and maybe Sancho.
All hyped up and totally underperformed. Too much, too soon.

I wonder if coaches are partly to blame, trying to boost their confidence, but then it backfiring because they simply aren't good enough.

There could be any number of things which bring about these let downs for the players, but perhaps being paid too much before having actually achieved anything of note also plants a belief in their heads.

Managing expectations must be a very difficult job .

We do it all the time. We are currently doing it with Borges and mebude. And we'll continue to do it with Phil Foden Jr too.

I think this is true if you read posts on here saying "X or Y should be given a chance by Pep" etc and then complaing that it " probably wont happen ".

Perhaps it doesn't happen for a very good reason, and the club actually understands the abilities/ readiness of individuals verby well.

Maybe we need to get these young wingers out playing lower leauges to get used to men's football to keep then grounded. No point having them play u18, u23s for 2 or 3 years ripping it up against kids

This is a very confusing post. At what point do you think we should put them in league 1? At 16? Under 16? Or should they be promoted to U18s and then U23s when they're deemed capable (regardless of age) to learn and develop physically?
