Jeremie Frimpong

With the wide fullbacks being Pep's more preferred option right now, this is such an obvious buy to do next season.

In fact, I'd also like to see a LB signed since Gvardiol has shown what we miss having a good one there.

Ake has been great as a sort of false LB, where he is just a defender in the space, but he absolutely cannot do any of the things Gvardiol has been doing.

Who are the leftbacks we should be targetting?

None, we've got one a lockdown defender, and one a swiss army knife attacker. no need.

So what you're saying, is... Gvardiol is doing fantastically there, so we should buy somebody else to play there instead?

Completely disagree.

The lockdown defender offers little going forward, we look more threatening when the fullback can offer a threat.
we go into a 3 so one fb forward the other sits back, its rare we attack with both high and wide, with RW also coming in (beit Savio and another) cant see a reason to get a 4th LB

A RB in the same mould as Josko though, can see that,.

No...

We are playing well with a LB who can attack, if he is injured, then we have nobody to play there properly.
Fair enough.

However, we've found it difficult enough to find one defender who can play there like Gvardiol does, and it cost us £77m. Getting another to be backup might prove tricky.

As more and more teams are playing a low-block, it's important we have goal scorers everywhere on the pitch and not just ball-carriers. With Walker around, Frimpong will get the time to learn the system as well.
It will be an incredible signing to start off .
Just get him in - only £34m which in this market is very cheap, would be a nice first signing of the summer.

I think seeing how walker has been playing recently, more so since the Madrid loss we are looking at a player like Frimpong long term. Hopefully its Frimpong its a good deal, he's club trained and he's a great player most importantly

It makes complete sense.

I think we need to move away from the idea of a like for like replacement for Walker - he's such an anomaly in his position that we're never going to find someone that can fill that void once he's gone.

Rather, we need to evolve and play in a different way, which I think Pep is gearing for anyway with how Walker has been deployed this season.

Academy lad, 14 goals 12 assists with plenty of top level, winning experience under his belt and can be bought back for way under his market value, in a position we need to strengthen? It's a complete no brainer and that's why I've been concerned it won't actually happen.

Fingers crossed there's some truth to it, but anything from Graeme Bailey should be taken with a pinch of salt.
