Boateng set for City
Young defender reportedly agrees deal with Blues

Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng has agreed a deal to move to Manchester City in the summer, according to reports in Germany.

The 21-year-old Germany international has long been linked with a move to Eastlands and has reportedly agreed to the switch which will cost City approximately £11million.

Boateng, whose brother Kevin-Prince currently plays for Portsmouth, has been in good form for HSV this term, leading them to a Europa League semi-final and a strong position in the Bundesliga.

Hamburg had tried to thrash out a new deal with the player to get rid of a minimum-fee release clause in his contract, but City are rumoured to have come in to activate that clause.

The Blues are in a good position to finish fourth in the Premier League this season and secure a place in next year's UEFA Champions League.

Former Hamburg players Vincent Kompany and Nigel de Jong are currently at City and are former team-mates of Boateng.

Bayern Munich were also thought to be interested in the youngster, who has dual German-Ghanaian nationality, but City have reportedly swooped in to capture his signature.

Twenty per cent of the transfer fee will go to Hertha Berlin, Boateng's former club where he spent five years.

Have we signed him them?

If we have then we will hear something from Hamburg very soon. City like to keep things hush-hush, but with both De Jong and Kompany they are the ones who broke the stories stating that the players were leaving pending medicals.

Jerome Boateng has signed from HSV- NOT official.

Will come in the summer. Fantastic signing, young, fast, strong, good positional sense and a great tackler. Got the potential to be one of the very best centre backs this kid and can also operate at right back. Fee reportedly 11 Million euros.

Re: Jerome Boateng has signed from HSV.

Definitely the right profile of signing. Young, played european football, represented his country already. Everyday I get more excited about the future of this club with Mancini in charge.

According to google translator.

Re: Jerome Boateng

Manchester City are certain to sign Hamburg Star Jerome Boateng according to German Daily Hamburger Abendblatt, they claim a deal for €12.5 Million has been agreed. Boateng will be come the third Hamburg player to join Man City are Nigel De Jong and Vincent Kompany.

Hamburg had little choice but to accept a deal with Mancini’s Man City due to a minimum fee release clause in his contract and it appears that Man City have beaten other interested parties to punch and got their man. Boateng it is assumed will be the first in a long line of arrivals expected at Eastlands this summer.

Boateng has made just three appearances for Germany and was in fact sent off on his International debut, he has played 66 times for Hamburg but at just 21 years of age is seen as a hot prospect for the future. Man City have been monitoring Boateng for some time and of reports are to be believed and there is no reason why they should not be considering the source then they have finally got their man.

Mancini will now turn his attention to more established stars in Germany including Edin Dzeko who is reportedly another target of Man City, if they fail to lure the Wolfsburg hit man to Manchester the reports are that they will make a concerted effort to sign David Villa of Valencia.

With Champions League football looking a very real prospect for Man City they will now be able to attract certain marque players that they could not before.

Going to be an exciting time this summer for Man City fans.
