Since I like my predictions and I have a penchant for being right. I called Micah owning the Right back position early in the season when most were enamored by the new Boateng and the hot Zabaletta.
And I will call it now. Boateng will own the CD position next to Vincent Kompany. It might not happen this season. But next season the Boateng/Kompany partnership will start off in earnest and they will be a beauty!
However, I have looked at it a thousand and one ways, but unless City becomes United or Arsenal cohesive in the next year, Kolarov will most likely always be poor for us. I felt this way in the summer when we were chasing him and hoped and prayed we didn't get him. And after we did, I prayed he wasn't the player I thought he was, but the more I watch him play, the more of the player I thought i knew, is what I see.
Without any doubt in my mind, Kolarov is the Bosnian Taye Taiwo. ANd there is nothing more frustrating than having one of those players on a team that is not cohesive. Which we are not yet. Coz they have the tendency to disrupt what little cohesion the team has with there often self centered decision making.
Unlike most, I am actually not too worried about his defending, it is slightly below Zabs, and on par with Micah and better than Boateng's. This is not much of a problem for me. Defending is a team activity. You get enough of your players willing to join in and squeze space and it matters little how great any individual one is. Especially when you have a rock like Komps or Vidic in the mix.
More comparisons here. He is certainly better than Marcelo who plays for Madrid, as good as Maxwell who now starts at Barca on the left, as good if not better than Leighton Baines who in my opinion has been the best LB in the Premiership.
The actual ability to tackle is not as important in my opinion. The ability to play however is of utmost importance! Kolarov often does not play for the team, and relies too often on his individual talent indiscriminately. I.e he shoots too much! And even when he doesn't shoot, he is often thinking of it ( I know this coz I am in his head :p) And this for me is not acceptable. I have never liked none team players. I don't care how talented they are. Didn't like Ronaldo (outside of the fact that he was a rag), Don't like Walcott, Don't like Marcelo, Taiwo, Tevez, Ibrahimovic, Robihno, Nzogbia, Adam Johnson (originally), Chavez, DIego, Robben, Van Persie e.t.c.
As you can see, some are amongst the best in the world and others are just good players. But that individualistic quality at the expense of the team drives me nuts. Those types of players bring the extra that super cohesive teams need to top each other. But they also often are detriments to teams who are not cohesive. And generally speaking, i'd rather not have them.
Unless that is, my team already has them and they are often carrying us inspite of their individual approach :P
Which is unfortunately the case with ..... :P
Oh yes, back to topic- Yeah Boateng will be solid--
