Never understood this quote..
It is a poor cross if there is nobody near it.No matter if it is in a dangerous area.

It's not as black and white as that.

Nearly every time we are about to put in a cross (not always Navas), Aguero starts making a run towards the near post and then pulls back and stands on the penalty spot with absolutely nobody attacking the six yard box.

Our presence in the box has been shite for a couple of years. That was probably the thinking behind Bony.

Navas does a job as a sub.Hate it when he starts.
On many occasions, Navas has got to the byline only to find most others either trying to catch up or sitting on or outside the penalty area, hence why he probably cuts back.

One of his strengths is what he does to the opponents shape. They sit deeper and wider when he is on the pitch. He creates space across the front line just by being on the pitch and that is before they start doubling up on him. A strategically important player.

I totally understand the frustration with navas. I've seen so many crosses that have never made it beyond the first defender. I think he just gives us a massive workrate, helps out defensively and also creates space for the players in the middle by stretching the defence in terms of width.

We sit NS tier 1 block 138. Last season my girls wanted to take a fried with them to a couple of games so I got a seat in the corner low down block 142. Obviously you get a different and much better view of players coming down the wing from there. I watched Navas closely for two games and his problem is he just doesn't look up before he crosses the ball. Not even a glance. Therefore he has no idea where our players are in the box let alone the oppositions first defender. His crossing is robotic in nature. It's very frustrating as he gets in to good positions so frequently. For me the lad Roberts we loaned to Celtic is a better player. Apologies if I am stating the obvious.

Sounds like a fair observation to me. I think he's a decent squad player but I don't think he should be getting near our starting 11.

I've got a lot of time for Navas, and he's criticised very heavily for a player who has been very important to our last 3 trophies. The lads one of footballs good ones.

Love the man. Limited but wonderful.

Another non display, a question for those who like Navas please remind me of his last match winning display. I can't quite recall it.
