Fullbacks will solve a lot of issues, we've seen all 4 wingers playing too deep at times this season in order to help out a fairly lightweight midfield, as the fullbacks haven't been able to cover enough ground to do it themselves, it's part of the reason that Sané and Sterling have looked so tired and Nolito has been so ineffective imo (although there's definitely something up off the pitch with him as well). Get our fullbacks providing the proper support (Madrid's two last night being a perfect example, even Nacho when he went in at right back) and Sané/Sterling will be able to take up a higher starting position, press more effectively, leave the width to others and attack inside channels with more freedom when the ball is forward and have more energy to put into their attacking game. What I would like to see at City is a genuine 3 up top kind of situation like Barca at their best had. Aguero could play anywhere in that, as could GJ & Sane. The odd man out is Sterling who could play it, but needs to convert more chances into goals.
Then the problem is, how you accomodate Silva & DeBruyne into that without either having one of them in the front 3 or letting 4 goals in.
Perhaps, having two fast fullbacks to help midfield/defence ,& close down two yards quicker, will solve it.
I have four of those attributesNo complaints from me.
- Works hard
- Causes no trouble
- Willing to be versatile
- Relatively low wages
- Wealth of experience
- Beautiful blue eyes

Lazy brown-eyed FOC.I have four of those attributes
Rumours of Sanchez or Mbeppe coming as well, though doubtful if Aguero stays.
I'd play a central 3 in midfield with Gundogan and Silva in front of a strong DM player. KDB can compete for the wide births and/or Silva's position. Toure as back up to Gundogan. Then any 3 of Jesus, Sane, Sterling, Aguero and Sanchez (for example). Kompany and Stones/Another plus 2 quality FBs in front of a decent keeper.
It would leave us with a very strong starting 11 and incredible quality on the bench.
It doesn't apply the same. Maffeo was not attacking the space when Pep played him in an attacking position, it's as simple as that.
Silly comment.
I think we all appreciate the work rate of navas and speed, but doesn't an attacking full back need to be able to cross a ball? How short is everyone's memory when he was getting slammed for not delivering the final ball.incredible to keep him cos he is cheap, surely you need to encourage younger players as back up rather than a bargain buy.It doesn't apply the same. So pleased to hear that about yaya, since he was brought back into the fold I think he has been terrific, I thought he was overplayed in pellegrinis last season and should be rested regularly to get the best out of him.Yes we need to bring players in there over the next 3 windows imo. And I'm not confident Gundogan is a banker for the future.
Imo, Yaya Toure has this season been one of City's best players & I hope he stays. The problem is that we have to keep playing him, as we keep getting injuries & he's a veteran, he needs to play selective games & then rest. Yaya has been the one pushing us forward when the 50 mil players have run out of ideas & looked as knackered as him.
We need a new signing or two there, but there is no need to chuck the baby out with the bathwater in the meantime. That is not how top clubs have operated over the years, it's just some of our fans with their spoilt child mentality, are willing to randomly dump club legends for the latest new toy, without actually tying out the new toy to see if it works, first.
Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea didn't operate like that, nor Bayern, Barca, Real Madrid. They try to make a smooth transition, with the help of their best, experienced veterans.
We need to find replacements for all our stars of the recent past, but we don't have to randomly sack them all for that to happen.
Re Garcia, imo his problem is that he is taking the easy option most of the time. He plays in his shell rather than running the game. He is already capable of running a Premier League game imo, but he just played it safe v Boro & until he'll grab a game, he's only going to be a bit part player.

Aguero. On his own, marked by 3 players with at least a 3" height advantage on him. With 2 or 3 players in the way attempting to block the line of the cross. This broke record sound of " can't cross the ball " bullshit .!
Who the fuck does he cross or aim at? Our forwards are full of midgets ffs.

Is it almost as broken as the "crosses must be in the air" record? This broke record sound of " can't cross the ball " bullshit .!

How many goals would you see as the minimum yearly requirement for a backup fullback and where would you rate it in comparison to defensive ability, pace and workrate? To those who think Navas offers us something. Just look at his stats the last two years. How many goals how many assists. How many match winning performances. He is not the future. Even as a back up full back. That role should be given to an up and coming youth player not someone who clearly isnt good enough and never was. Just working hard is not good enough for this side and where we all want it to be. Nice lad but giving him an extension when Hart was just shipped out without even having a chance is just bonkers.
