Jim Beglin commenting "Emptyhad" on Live TV | City lodge complaint (pg 38)

I thnk the poster who mentioned earlier about our sponsor, Etihad, being the butt of the quip as much as City, is spot on.

Very dense of Beglin to think that nobody connected with Etihad would be watching the game on BEIN, and not feel his little joke could damage the brand.

City may have let it go, but the expectation for a major brand sponsor and long term partner will be for us to highlight it lest it damage their brand.
That’s a good point. I wondered why this (an insignificant thing, really) of all the shit we’ve got in the media, would be the thing that City lodge a complaint about… but it makes sense now!

His apology was hollow but I'm glad it was noted and he had to do it. Some of these think he is untouchable

Agree.

Every club has the same problem with empty seats and atmosphere. As Gorton says its only City that this is pointed out plus our transfer fees. That's why Beglin said it, it's now subconsciously in their minds. Commentators have called us utd on tv, happens more than I would like. The press/media keep saying utd are in Manchester clearly a lie.

It is now becoming very expensive to get tomatches with higher petrol costs, household cost, food, heating etc the premier inn for midweek games lol.
Plus the small matter of Covid unless the ridiculous remarks about the club being somehow devious in allegedly NOT getting it includes fans not getting it as well.

Did you see the post earlier when our own Trev called Liverpool ‘the dippers’? Should he have got sacked?

The answer, as with Beglin, is no.

If he was being paid by the Premier League when he said it he would likely have been sacked.

There is a big difference between Talksport and an official Premier League production.

This is the thing. It was a PLP broadcast shown across the globe. Such defamatory remarks are taken in by the audience and taken as gospel. You only have to look at the replies to any City article on twitter from people in Scandinavia to Africa to Australia, all repeating the same Emptihad, no fans, plastic fans and they really do believe it.
There's a simple solution to your ire.

Two different things though

Beglin was co commentator on a PLP live match broadcast
Sinclair was on a radio chat show

If Sinclair had made the comment on a live match broadcast, even if it was only Talksport, then that would have been a different matter

Has there been any official statement from them regarding our complaint?

We should let them know that Beglin isn't welcome to the Etihad gantry for future commentaries, if an official apology isn't forthcoming.
The PL being open and forthcoming? Naah.

I suspect they have had a word with Beglin and praise for City and Etihad will be gushing from him for the rest of the season to make up.

Btw, I regularly watch the PL stream and I would say he has always been fair to City. Not sure what the hell he was thinking.

Yep, that’s really really funny . .

But the fact remains that we have higher average crowds and higher average seat occupancy than liverpoo do . . but the deluded scouse feral constantly berate our attendances (which are better than theirs) and some gullible idiots believe them -
if you don’t believe that then wait until you’ve recovered from your bout of inappropriate hilarity and check the facts .
I do t know what you are on about. If you want to be deeply offended by some ex Dipper player then go for it. I’m just happy supporting the lads on the pitch to Maximise our chances of beating the bin dippers at football.

Btw I quite enjoy us being unpopular. It’s very obvious that the opposition and their media shills are jealous of us.

The Premier League isn't PLP (Premier League Productions)
PLP is part of a much larger organisation that's won a contract to show Premier League games worldwide
