I have watched hard talk many a time, yes it asks the difficult and hard hitting questions, but for me that clip was not that, she was attributing a very british cultural thinking to both south african and american cultures , her lenny henry point missed the mark as he explaoned in vainThe whole point of Hardtalk is take the (Devil's advocate) hardline against the subject of the interview.
It’s not that they don’t get it, they have to raise things like "context is irrelevant" to explore the issues fully. Context is irrelevant is something often said without the person claiming that fully articulating why they think that.
Being hard hitting is one thing, but in his explanation of his parents and the language he used context is necessary, her dismissing it to labour a mute point wasn't hard hitting journaism it was bobbins tbf.
