João Palhinha

Everything I've seen data-wise on Palhinha suggests he a destroyer and very little more. Now that could be due to how Fulham play and what they need from him, or he could be at his level, after all, he is 28 now.

Would be surprised if we went for him, would be more surprised if we did and he ended up being relied on under Pep.

You never know, but I just haven't seen anything from him that "guarantees" he'd be a success for us.

Would be 29 in the summer. I ask myself, if he wasn’t on our radar in the summer, then what has he done to be so now? And, if he is now on our radar, is it because he has greatly improved, or is it more due to the fact that we have had to extend its range. Either way, I’m less convinced than ever that he’s the answer to our problem.

Erm I'm thinking about Kova and Nunes - it's not a guarantee he'd immediately get Peps demands to be fair.
“Knowing the league“ is exactly the same as a manager “knowing the club’s DNA”.

Both Ian Fiveankles-esque sayings that mean very little.

Haaland did alright for someone who didn't know the league. We were lucky though, we should have gone for someone who knows the league inside out, like Anthony Martial or Sir Marcus of Rashford.

It can work both ways - which you succinctly point out.
Any transfer is a risk - does he fit the team, can he work with the manager blah blah.
Until a player arrives - despite all checks anyone could possibly do - you just don't know.
It actually could be as simple as a player now earns £xMillion and decides he can take it easy

Yeah, I was slightly hyperbolic, but City are better than most at creating dossiers on players skills, strengths, character, desire etc.

I’d be slightly surprised if we went for Paulinha, but he does have a release clause.

We have a similar issue to Spurs finding a back up to Kane. Rodri isn’t likely to be displaced, unless we find a absolute gem.
