Jo. Is it clicking into place?

I think Mancini deserves some praise for Jo actually. Obviously he has placed some faith in the Brazilian and he has reaped the benefits. Now, for me, that says a lot about his man management skills when he turns around a player that probably didn't have a cat in hells chance of staying and was looking to leave himself into a player who looks to be playing with a smile on his face, scoring goals in pre-season and looking forward to repesenting us this season as a contender for a place, while accepting he'll have to keep working to get in the team.

I think the new players can bring the best out of Jo. It just goes to show that if you put yourself about, if you net a few goals then the fans will give you another chance. Happened with Caciedo not last season but the one before last didn't it when he went on a run of scoring 7 goals in a short period of games?

This could be a brilliant Manchester City success story if he can stick it out at City and contribute positively.

Question I have for people, hypothetically, if Robinho came back with Jo's attitude would people give him a second chance?
Robinho's problem is that he lets the hostility from people outside City undermine his game. And sadly some City fans have bought into this. if there is a player ideally suited to City's diamond it's Robinho

We shouldn't go over the top about Jo. It's only pre-season and very different to competitive football, but at least he's starting well and growing in confidence

I don't think it's going over the top Marvin, I think it is more surprise that he is doing so well and giving him recognition and praise for his performances in the pre-season. Obviously the premier league and european competition (the real deal as I call it) will prove to be the acid test for him as to whether he can step up to the plate and whether the difference is that great, but it looks like there has been a change and he could be the dark horse contender for shock success story for 10/11.

For me he is in front of R.s.c Robinio and Caciedo but will that be enough to get into the 25 ? i am not sure ,but i would likehim to come good.

-- Sun Aug 08, 2010 11:55 am --

For me he is in front of R.s.c Robinio and Caciedo but will that be enough to get into the 25 ? i am not sure ,but i would likehim to come good.

With Robinho, RSC, Caciedo and probably Bellamy (sorry CB lovers!) gone he'll get in the 25 I should imagine, but I'd expect Mario to be ahead of him in the pecking order. You don't spend between £20,000,000 - £30,000,000 on a player and then stick him behind a £19,000,000 striker who is on a second chance, but failed once before.

This pre-season what has Jo done exactly? He's scored goals, looked sharp and creative and is winning headers (more than ade does). What more can he do?

Definately worth giving him a try. If Utd had the chance to go back and persevere with Forlan, they would because he turned into one of Europe's top strtikers - he needed two/three seasons to settle and mature. We should remember that when we bought Jo as a 20 year old, we were in a position where we needed instant payback, so the management and fans had zero tolerence when they didn't get it. He's young and has had to make the transition from Brasil-Ukraine-UK. Three very different styles of play for a kid. He's done enough pre season to deserve a chance.

Personally I also believe there is a clash of personalities between Bellars and Robinho, I believe MH maybe had some positive influence in Robinho wanting to leave same with Jo who wasn't an MH signing. If we do let Bellars go (I don't want him to) then I believe Robbie will be off, but if Bellars goes I can see Mancini pursuading Robbie to play for us again subject to him adopting his philosophy. Maybe Jo's re incarnation has something to do with the manager rather than the player himself. The only question blues fans have to ask themselves is what would Robbie have to do to endear himself back among the FLBs for me all it would need

1) A public apology.
2) Play to the best of his ablity in every game as he performs for Brazil.
3) Keep his gob shut in future.

its a risk putting Jo in the 25 man when there could be other players that could take his spot. being a center forward isn't helpping because in my opinion its the most important roll with in the team........ don't win with out goals:

would hate it if he got in the 25 man team and we never played him, or he went the same why as his 1st season with us:

seeing how he's been playing pre season I would have him in my team over RSC and even Bellers because of the position he plays (think were covered on the left now) BUT like I said................ ITS A RISK!

(good luck to the lad)

Jo has jumped Ade in the que for the a place in the team. Jo has looked bright scored goals and his workrate has improved to levels I never seen in Jo before.

As for Robhino we wont have to wait long to see what happens with him it should be sorted some time this week. I would keep hold of him because of the amount of football we will have to play next season we need players like him in our squad. I would expect with better players around Robhino as well we would see a different Robhino a player who is up for the game and who can also win games on his own. For all we know Robhino could well start the Spurs game his fitness levels we dont have to worry about and would be a great option for the Spurs game. He will make the 25 if he returns. I also feel if he stays he will win over the fans quick enough. I had no problems with him going out on loan. Paper talk could come from anywhere if he is happy to remain and put on a preformace I would rather have him at the club than get rid of him.
