Jo Swinson

She has a bad case of verbal diarrhoea, waffling on that she was right and every body else will regret the way they voted.

She and her Party got It badly wrong standing on a remain platform and also arrogantly suggesting she would be the next PM, she can now ride off over the horizon taking her book of “quotes” with her.

ive just listened on 5live. Awkward listening

She royally got it wrong and she paid the price.
The LD have a massive issue they have to pick a new leader from a pool of just eleven political mice.
Her and Corbyn pushed for those Election and by God has it bit them and their parties in the arse.

Needed to happen though this election, in the sense that it allows both leaders to be removed.

I do wonder what the country would look like if Clegg hadn't traded tuition fees for an AV vote.

They had 60 seats, 25% of the popular vote, and everything that's happened under the conservatives since and the division of the Labour party could have lead to them becoming a serious 3rd party if they'd positioned themselves as a credible remain option, or a home for labour voters who coudn't vote for Corbyn.

Now they've got 7% of the vote and a dozen seats, less relevant than the fucking SNP & Sinn Fein.

AV; now that really, really would have been transformative.

She is. Leaving aside brexit, I thought their manifesto was great, her leadership less so. I do feel a bit sorry for any party that increases their vote and comes away with fewer mps, that's our electoral system for you though.

The Lib Dems need to focus on although they've only got 11 seats, there's 3.3m that those are now representing. That's a very good base to build on and a lot of people they need to stand for, they need to get their next leadership move right. Ed Davey in as interim leader whilst they sort it out is what I would do.

The problem they have is they just dont have a critical mass and practically every seat is a marginal. When crunch comes people don't want to waste their vote on a party that tends to come 3rd.

It will not escape people attention that the total Labour and Lib Dem combined vote share was 43.7 the Tories got a massive majority with 43.6. The Lib Dems vote share went up by 4.2% the biggest rise and more than the tory and Brexit party increases combined.

They are as always the victim of the system.

Yep and that’s a system that definitely isn’t going to change any time soon. Had labour backed a change to proportional representation, I think you might have seen more Lib Dem’s willing to tactically vote for them. Instead, being asked to essentially support Corbyn and his policies just to keep the tories out was never going to enough.

Yeah but no one gave a shit. 40% turnout, terrible campaigning, and it was the wrong timing as well. 2015 or now, AV might have a real chance because Green, SNP and Brexit party voters (including the millions who would support those parties but tactically vote instead) would go for it. People like Farage have serious publicity reach.

And the crux of it was that there's millions of people who were saddled with £25,000+ loans (or their kids were) because of that Lib Dem choice, and it's almost impossible to win someone back when you've cost them that much money in such a visible way. You see it come out of your paycheck every month, a little reminder of them selling you out.

Rather ungracious of Queen Nicola to celebrate it with a full fandabbydozy.
Just thinking that myself - not the way a country's ĺeader should be seen to behave.

Love the Jimmy Krankie reference. So obvious l can't think why l never spotted it before.

I know, so don’t need reminding by you as well!

Funny as fuck watching her get beat last night but sadly like shit football managers you know its only a matter of time before she gets her next seat and we have to suffer her intolerable condescension and arm waving.

Still at least her next go will be as PM.

Her defeat had nothing to do with her being a woman

She didn't get it badly wrong at all. She got some things wrong. I didn't agree with the revoke policy, even as a remainer, but she represented a large proportion of the Country who still believe remain to be the best option. She massively increased her parties vote share. Arguably, on the evidence, she ran the best campaign of all the parties, but our electoral system is rigged in favour of the big two parties, ably supported by the obsession of the media of turning it into a two horse race. You might not agree with her policies, but saying she got it wrong is moronic.

She didn't say it was. That was a reference to a) her being the first lib dem leader, and b) her taking lots of stick for her appearance in a way that a man never would. Both of which are undeniably true. She never even hinted that her defeat was to do with her being a woman.

Bojo and Jezza take a lot of stick because of their appearance, more so than she did or does IMO.

To be fair though, that is because they are both genuine scruff bags. She isn't she dresses like a professional woman in the workplace, like Cameron or Ashdown, who never got any stick. If she turned up looking like a sack of shit, like Johnson does, then maybe there would be more reason to criticise her appearance.
