Just want a reliable keeper who is OK with the ball rather than prioritising the ball-playing aspect.

For some reason they’re being linked with keepers. I’m guessing Dubravka is going. I presume it’s a ‘competition’ thing between Pope and a newbie but I also presume it’ll end up like the Raya/Ramsdale thing at Arsenal.

No top keeper with City and Barcelona to choose from goes to Newcastle to compete with their number 1.

but since you ask, i've never been keen on short keepers.
yes i know its hardly the defining characteristic for a keeper, i just feel that size can be intimidating

I agree. I'm 6' and I feel the same.

It's difficult being a short GK. You need to be extra athletic, able to leap and organise your defence exceptionally well. Even then, you will often times face bias against you.

Na he was average. He’s only known for wearing snazzy goalkeeper tops and oversized shorts.

It may seem as back on my day sort of thinking but goalkeepers should still
Be tall. You need to look imposing in the goal and to fill it up so to speak.

All the best keepers are over 6ft at least,schemiechel, Donnaruma fills the goal and is a bastard on the one on ones. Also wingspan comes into it.
Look at the likes of Pickford,although decent he isn’t world class and struggles with getting to the top corner. Also coming and claiming crosses and corners.

Courtouis is class still and so was Buffon and even Toldo before that.

I used to think that shay given was on the small side for a keeper but even he was 6ft1.

Still the only position on the pitch where height really does matter.

Ederson is one of the best keepers in the world for sweeping and distribution. The improvement would be in shot stopping

Costa is a better shot stopper than Ederson.
