Joao Cancelo

I think he's a great upgrade on danilo and only paying nearly 28m for a 60m rated player is fantastic business in my opinion.
Imminent, bags packed, hand luggage scanned and sat on the tarmac isn't he?

What are the respective values of Cancelo and Danilo ? Roughly £55m and £20m respectively ?

This deal would make City more complete than ever. I just hope we can keep Sané and see these guys work the right flank together, using him to cut inside (Robben-style) while Cancelo provide all of the crosses. I think it's the longterm idea by Guardiola. Obviously the same goes for the other side with Mendy and Sterling. I've been quite harsh when criticizing Walker the past year or two for several reasons (mostly his lack of offensive qualities), but yesterday he was one of our best players. Either way, we would have two great right backs if this goes through!

Get the tracker out

Joao Cancelo was at Continassa [Juventus’ training centre] this morning - the Portugal international spent a few minutes there before leaving straight after.

I noticed Walker mentioned his age yesterday in interview, we are clearly mindful of this and bringing younger players in

agreed. but whoever's second choice will be getting most of theirs in fa/league cups.

danilo only made 7 league starts at right back last season.

Pep doesnt trust him thats why he only made 7 league starts there were parts of the season when walker was playing awful yet danilo never played

There won’t necessarily be a first and second choice. It’ll be horses for courses.

was gonna argue, then realised this is probably more likely to happen.

the reason i'd hesitate to rotate in walker's case is he's been mediocre for a very long time, and it seems like he might have finally turned a corner, so benching him at this stage would be a bit harsh.

This will add a whole new dimension to our right side. The linkup between Cancelo - KDB - Bernardo will create so many openings.

€30m Danilo and €30m cash

Danilo is <£20 in the books. If we were looking for a fee anything over £20 would be enough as its a decent profit on a player who we have had as cover and not needed. I think £20 is a more accurate figure if we want to calculate the Cancelo fee. £20 + ~£35m cash = ~£55m.

I don’t agree with that. Don’t think it was an issue of trust, what has he done to lose Peps trust? Had quite a few regular minor injuries but whenever he played he did well, he just simply doesn’t have the pace and recovery capabilities walker has and they’re essential.
