If it wasn’t for Mendy’s injury we’d have probably gone 3 at the back more often than 4. It was shaping up that way before it all changed.

We did this several times while Mendy was fit at the start of the 17/18 season.
We did, but since then, 4 at the back has taken over and evolved.
Pep would now rather play Fernandinho in the back 4 than 3 centre backs.
The only way a 3 would happen now would be Laporte, Fernandinho and Rodri if he comes.
City will never play 3 CBs whilst Pep is here (bar the last 5 mins at Burnley etc). Pep wants as many midfield players as possible in the team.
Oh dear, have you been in a coma the last few years? We've played 3 CBs from the start in plenty of games over the last three seasons.

Whenever he played this season it was in a 4.
Why would we play 3 at the back now when the ball is on the edge of the opponent's box 70% of the time?
It takes away an added attacking player.

Attacking versions of our current starting Fullbacks. Sounds quite intelligent from.the front office. :)Cancelo and Angelino sounds good to me.

Played 3 at the back against Huddersfield, no right back.When last season?
I've seen City dropping into a back three at the back many times within one game never mind starting with a back 3.When last season?
Zincy tends to come inside to help city dominate the midfield creating overloads.
Walker tends to hold his position as does the defender next to him with Laporte moving over to the left of a back three.
We have no need for a static back 4 with the amount of posession we have in games.
There was one or two games last year when we essentially started as a back three but fern when we were out of position constantly dropped into the back to create a back 4. They did it home in the Prem but at least once in Europe.
Must confess to never seeing this lad play? I gather he’s an attacking fullback? Plenty of pace?
What sort of fee is being mooted, I’m not going to google it as I assume it will be a load of fictional astronomical figures.
Looked to me like a technically gifted player. Good passing, good dribbling skills and nice crossing ability. Pace seems pretty standard for an attacking fullback.
