Job interview at City

when asked questions about what you
might do in certain situations try and use examples of similar situations you have been in with successful outcomes - don't just say i'd do this or that, prove you've already done it

i'd ring about dresswear but that's just me-would show you're organised

Re: Job interview at City

If you've got a season ticket, wear the badge that came with it last summer.

Re: Job interview at City

Its unlikely to be a seasonal position ?, so maybe not wise to tell them you will be quitting in a few months to go back to Uni. Always easier to make an impression then let them know. Much more likeley to get the job and be invited back.
Also have some questions to ask the interviewer, I've previously written these down so I dont forget to ask what I need to know - shows you are prepared and organised. If it's going well, throw in a light hearted one, like 'Could you confirm that no one I may work with if succesful supports Utd'.
Good Luck. Would love to work at City in any capacity.

Re: Job interview at City

I agree with comments about dressing formally and I would wear a jacket unless it is really hot.

Also, if someone offers to shake hands, do it firmly, not like you're holding a limp piece of lettuce and as already been mentioned, look the person in the eye when shaking his / her hand.

And the best of luck. I hope you get the job.

I should add that if anyone official is reading this and suitably impressed that I dont come cheap. Although I am willing to fuck off my agent and his ridiculous fees.

Re: Job interview at City

Definitely the shirt and tie option for dress code. As has been mentioned it is better to be over dressed than under. I'm assuming this would be a customer facing role so you need to enthusiastic, friendly and confident. Think of examples of when you have had to maybe deal with awkward people/customers and how you have dealt with them in a previous role if you can. Obviously if you dealt with it by smacking the person in the face I would try to come up with a different answer but hopefully that is of some assistance.

Re: Job interview at City

Look on the bright side, if you make a total balls up of the interview they might offer you a job in the ticket office.

Handed in a CV to the Citystore in town last week for at least the 15th time, 20minutes later got a call back asking me to attend an interview on Thursday, very excited about it and hope I get it as it would be brilliant part time until I go back to college and then to carry on with it from there, anybody got any tips I have a lot of experience but not so much with interviews and also I wasn't told to dress formal or not so I'm wondering what to wear? P.s sorry if this is in the wrong forum didn't know quite where to put it.

Jeans and a casual top always go down well!!! :-)

F.F.Sake mate. First impressions. Suited and booted. You never get a 2nd chance to make a first impression. Good luck mate

That's in my Facebook quotes.

Re: Job interview at City

They say never talk badly about anyone in job interviews but in this case you should emphasize your hatred for the rag bastards at every opportunity. A sure fire winner to gaining trust and ultimately the job.

Re: Job interview at City

Dont be late, dont swear, dont fart more than once and never get your cock out.....and I'm talking from experience as I didn't get the job.

It'd be useful to know what the interview is for, I assume its just working in the store as an assistant.

Personally I'd phone them and ask what format the interview will take, if its going to be formal (sit behind a desk answering questions) or informal (be shown what you will be doing, and have a go at it), that should give you an idea what they are looking for dress wise as well. (Don't the staff wear an informal uniform ? I've only been in twice and can't remember.)

Is it just me or does that bit sound a little condescending ?

Re: Job interview at City

Shirt and tie.

Don't forget, the interview is with Kitbag, not City, so it might be better if asked, to say you're a City fan but try not to appear over enthusiastic because if, for example, they have a player in store, the last thing they want is for you not concentrating on your job because of the distraction of player in store. In other words, express your support for the club, but be able to separate that from your professionalism in the job. Indeed it might be a tick in the box if you can convey that at some stage in the interview, if the opportunity arises.

Good luck! And good luck to the other poster who also had an interview.

Don't think it was intentional. :)
