Joe Hart and Fernando blunder analysis,

I cannot believe that people are attributing any portion of the blame whatsoever with Joe hart.

Both to blame IMO,hart had a few options, made the wrong choice, again IMO,played it to Fernando and then points to him to shift it right, why dint Joe just play it to the right(think to Sagna).....bad control from Fernando let Ibrahimovic in.
For me,a couple of minutes before half time, hart should of took his time and waited for the ref to tell him to get on with it,then fuckin hoofed it up field.

I cannot believe that people are attributing any portion of the blame whatsoever with Joe hart.

I equally cannot believe that people are absolving Hart of any blame for this goal.
He is the one player with the full view of what is ahead of him.
I agree with the comment above that it was a good gesture by Mangala to console / lift Fernando in a way which Hart didn't.
Hart seems to get a free pass from so many fans because he pulls off a few eye-catching saves on a regular basis.
His decision making at key moments is a weak link for the team + has been for the last couple of years.

So how do we stop it happening again? We need to clear the danger area, that means not giving it straight back to the opposition via a punt down the middle. If the team knows the keeper will be aiming to find the touch line deep into the other half, then the resulting throw-in should not cause us much trouble.
What-ever, the whole thing looked so unprofessional, so under-rehearsed, so fkin amateurish, Wtf do they do on the training ground, same with the hundreds of dreadful corners that threaten OUR goal more than the opponent's. Roll on next season

Hart gets slagged off for poor distribution when he goes long to our tiny strike force. He plays it short last night to a midfielder who should know how to control a ball and not fumble it into the path of an attacker and straight away he gets slagged for not kicking it long.

All Fernando had to do was play it back to hart who could have gone long or across to Clichy who was wide open after ibra went to close fern. It's a Fernando mistake.

Hart is one of my fav players and i think he should be our number 1 for couple of years at least, having said tat hart was slightly more responsible in my opinion as he had the whole view and should have been mindful of ibra position
He ended up making the wrong pass and failed to communicate even when ibra was approaching, instead of asking to pass right he should have asked for back pass. Fernando should have shown better match awareness to

How can it all be Fernando's fault?
It is split, Hart had a view of all in front, had 3 defenders to choose, he chose the one who was square on and closely prowled upon by Ibrahimovic. The fact Hart screams and gestures for a pass to Otamendi shows that Otamendi would have been a better option clearly. Like why the hell would you pass to a player for them to immediately pass sideways, when you could've done that straight from GK and bypassed the risky option of Fernando, play the percentages!

I agree Fernando was awful on the ball, I have said that already, bit Hart is equally at fault. It all stemmed from the placement of the ball on the 6 yard box right corner.
Clearly the best option was to pass to Mangala who then takes it forward whilst waiting for runs into space by his midfield colleagues. Maybe even back to a running Fernando if Ibra doesn't track bac with him?

Regarding Joe, his a great shot stopper, a truly top class Goalkeeper in that respect, that is his main attribute. Years gone by it'd have been no big issue, since Peps Barca, the pressing from the front highlight Joe's deficiencies.

Again, I blame Manuel's strategies and the defensive coach's training. Couple with an ever changing backline and midfield. No excuse for training though, Manuel has been here over two and a half years. First season he nailed this job, absolutely nailed it. But since he has been fathomed out, the likes of Allardyce publicly outing the weaknesses we have which still now we have.

Going forward, Manuel goes, Hart remains, regardless of the GK links Joe is number 1. I look forward to seeing him under Pep, improve under the tutelage of the beat coach in the game.

One thing i'm getting a bit sick of hearing is "x" isn't a Pep type of player. We've got a squad (mostly) full of top class players all more than capable of playing possession football when coached right. Look at Liverpool tonight with the ball at the back. They were passing in triangles between the back 4 and the keeper, nobody can tell me their back 5 is technically superior to anything we have. We've got a squad of top class international players and the best coach around coming in to teach them his ways, they'll adapt no problem.

Joe's fault for me, we all know Fernando isn't comfortable on the ball, so why make the pass? Plus, Fernando isn't even looking at Hart when he makes the pass, and Joe should get back in his goal quicker too.

It's naivety of the highest order.

In the end, it's frustrating because PSG were so wasteful with the Ibra, Matuidi, and Cavani blunders, combined with Hart stopping the penalty, that we actually could be taking a one-goal lead back to the Etihad had this not happened.

It was so eerily similar to the Hart-MDM fuck up in the Derby that I actually had flashbacks. Poor decision by Hart to pass to Fernando followed by a shocking first touch. Neither player covered himself in glory. I bet Hart boots it to the opposition penalty area from here on out.

Hart fault. he try to prove that his distribution is as good as MATS, but lack of intelligent.
we just scored, he should take his time. the TV is not even finish replay KDB goal yet.
both are known uncomfortable as ball playing player, then he should play it safe.
hoof it as long as possible. hart is an excellent as shot stopper, and that's it.
he play that role all his life, and one can't teach him how to do sweeper keeper.
as professional player, i expect them to know each strength and weakness of their team mates.

Clearly both were to blame to some extent but the main fault lies with Joe Hart for playing the ball in the first place. He had the whole picture ahead of him, he could see the various positions players had picked up and he proceeds to play a limp pass to Fernando that gives ample time for Ibrahimovic to close Fernando down, plus, he plays the ball the opposite way to which he seemed to want Fernando to go with the ball and towards the danger. It's basics that you never pass a ball across your own goal. Of course, Fernando's touch is poor but he can't see behind him. Where was Joe's simple 'Man-on' shout to alert Fernando to the danger after he had played the poor pass and why oh why was Hart not more alert to covering his goal after the poor pass ?

It was a catalogue of errors but Joe is to blame for starting it off and then not responding to the danger (ie letting Fernando know there was a threat) when he could see what was happening. I've said it before, Joe seems to lose concentration and it is costing us.

It's no worse than what most top class footballing goalkeepers do. If that upsets you, you will be having kittens next season. Neuer, Ter Stegen etc play 3 or 4 of those almost every game but they have competent outfield players to deal with it. Neuer will play some ridiculous passes out to the full back who is under a high press, that if intercepted, could easily cost a goal. It's the risk you take by trying to control possession every time you have the ball.

Furthemore, Joe's forward options are poor given we have no height at all. We were being pressed by 3 men who between them roughly covered the centre back spot, and both full back spots so if Joe had have placed the ball centrally, they would have just put the squeeze on both sides.

Joe Hart will continue to do this next season but we will thankfully have competent players ahead of him.

Lots of people to blame,

Manager for setting them up to play from the back
Hart for not using his own nous to see it wasn't really on
Fernando for not having awareness of where Zlatan was nor of heeding Hart's pleas to play out to RB position (was it Otamendi?)
Other players around Fernando who should have been shouting 'man on' or whatever they say now (of course they may have done this in which case more fault on Fernando).

However having said all that, mistakes happen and its the same as, for example, missing an open goal so lets get over it and move on, we have a great chance to get through.

Hart's major weakness is his distribution. He's a great shot stopper but in the modern game at top level he needs to be able to pass the ball and read the game like a defender. He'll never be able to. His passing has always been woeful. He hovers around the 50% completion mark, and considering he only has to pass to feet about 10 yards most of the time that shows how poor he is. Stegen is closer to 80% and that's why there is interest.
