Watching the full Bayern friendly game it is fairly obvious why Joe is not cut out to be Pep's keeper. It has nothing to do with his shot stopping ability. But a lot of times when our attack doesn't work you can clearly see Pep on the sideline signaling to our players to pass it back to the keeper so the opposition would go higher then our keeper could recycle the possession and start the build up again. Whenever we have the ball Willy/Gunn was always outside of the penalty area. I'm afraid Joe is just not cut out to do this. He sort of panics everytime he receives the ball at his feet. Even in the game you can see Gunn is more comfortable on the ball than Willy and our possession looks much better.

I don't agree. Maybe we should give Hart the chance to play in this Pep set up where the defenders are making themselves available for a pass before writing him off? Willy and Gunn hardly showed Neuer-esque ball skills they just received the ball and passed it to a defender who was in space. I'm pretty sure Hart can do the same.

know what you mean about coming outside the area but he wasnt playing in that game, lets see when he plays under peps rule, I am sure he will be in the team come the start of the prem, not Gunn, not Cabalero

That's exactly my point guys, Caballero and Gunn were both lacking as well. Joe is just not calm enough whenever he has the ball at his feet. That blunder against PSG in the CL comes to mind. I love Joe and I hope to be proven wrong. But I just can't see how a player on Joe's age can suddenly develop the knack to using his feet well.

He is 29! And he is able to learn, I think he is a lot better than some fans think. Most importantly he lives and breaths the club... cant buy that.

But pep isnt a wrecking ball manager who just sacks players and brings new one in, these are players with friendships and loyalties within the team, just getting rid of the mainstay of your defence is madness

Fernando's blunder?

I consider that Joe's blunder as Joe shouldn't have passed it to Fernando, with Zlatan just lurking close to him.

God help us if our players can't receive a ball, control and pass with the nearest opponent 6 yards away.
