Only read bits of this topic over recent days but boy is there some sentimental pap on it.

I have been a big supporter of Hart and came into this transfer window saying he was the last guy we needed to replace at that juncture. However, watching City try to play the Pep way makes it rapidly apparent that we need Bravo big time. I tweeted a comment early in the second half of the Arsenal game that Hart had not got the memo.

Hart's short pass completion last season seemed to compare favourably with Neuer's and I thought that with players making themselves available for short passes, he would respond; however, watching both him and Willy and seeing how teams are going to try and press City's keeper into long balls has highlighted the need for a new keeper. I believe teams (and a lot of suppuorters) are probably in for a bit of a shock when they try to press Bravo; in fact, I hope it won't be long before most of this abandon that approach.

I've now seen a few media types mention something that had previously occurred to me, which is that Hart should have been doing extra work on his ball control / passing for the past year: we all knew Pep was coming and for Hart to have not done so was some combination foolish, complacent and lazy.

I would like Hart to stay and try to develop the skills to get back to being City's first choice keeper but I fear he will take the easy route out; if he does, he has not been badly treated but is a victim of his own inadequacies.

Important to clarify this. Hart has not been banished to the reserves, or EDS or banned from training with the 1st team, etc. So what treatment are we talking about? He is still one of the squad players. He has been benched to fight for the GK spot, like how Willy has been all these years. If England NT replace Hart with XYZ and keep Hart as No.2, will there be so much drama? Why is it ok for England but not for City? We are in transition, a new era. That means exactly that. Reviewing our squad and upgrading. Willy is better than Hart with his feet, ATM. The sooner fans understand this, the calmer they will be. If they find Willy's keeping shaky in these 3 games, imagine Hart with his feet. Pls dont be in this myth that Hart is some Bravo or Ter Stegen.

Excellent post. Pretty much what I wanted to say but couldn't find the energy to.

Joe hasn't been treated like anything. All the bleating going on here is doing my head in. This is football. Shit happens. It happens or has happened to pretty much every player out there at some stage in their career. I'm sure he'll get over it. Onwards and upwards as they say.

Thanks for your service Joe, you've been a good 'un.

spot on mate, plus its not like he's being sacked with no money. Im sure he can wipe his eyes on the millions of notes as handkerchiefs.

Well we'll see in due course. Maybe he didn't realise or think he had a problem with his distribution. It's good to be challenged, and if he's in the squad then Guardiola must have confidence in the way he's reacting. I've seen him travelling with the squad and on the bench. We could have heard all kinds of Hart sob stories but we haven't. he's just got on with it. Come on Joe/City

IMO Joe has been treated perfectly reasonably. He is out of form and has therefore been dropped and replaced by our current standby keeper. Too many see this as an injustice and I struggle to comprehend why.

As for feeling sorry for the man. Not me, I've worked and paid taxes for over 45 years but have still not accrued what he has earned in one season. He is set for life.
