Only read bits of this topic over recent days but boy is there some sentimental pap on it.
I have been a big supporter of Hart and came into this transfer window saying he was the last guy we needed to replace at that juncture. However, watching City try to play the Pep way makes it rapidly apparent that we need Bravo big time. I tweeted a comment early in the second half of the Arsenal game that Hart had not got the memo.
Hart's short pass completion last season seemed to compare favourably with Neuer's and I thought that with players making themselves available for short passes, he would respond; however, watching both him and Willy and seeing how teams are going to try and press City's keeper into long balls has highlighted the need for a new keeper. I believe teams (and a lot of suppuorters) are probably in for a bit of a shock when they try to press Bravo; in fact, I hope it won't be long before most of this abandon that approach.
I've now seen a few media types mention something that had previously occurred to me, which is that Hart should have been doing extra work on his ball control / passing for the past year: we all knew Pep was coming and for Hart to have not done so was some combination foolish, complacent and lazy.
I would like Hart to stay and try to develop the skills to get back to being City's first choice keeper but I fear he will take the easy route out; if he does, he has not been badly treated but is a victim of his own inadequacies.
