Best of luck, Joe. You have a deserved place in City hearts. My 7 year-old grandson came to us this morning wearing his old Hart keepers jersey. (It buried him when he first got it!)

Gosh just watched the Joe Hart interview. Quite emotional watch. Not sure I could watch a David Silva or Sergio Aguero one without the odd tear! All the best Joe.

A City legend.

So important for us, I was convinced he would stay even under Pep. Didn’t quite work out but Joe remained a top professional.

Thank you Joe for everything, you are an important piece of the club’s history and will never be forgotten.

His final interview was a good watch.

Wish him all the best at Burnley!

Genuine question, why wouldn’t you consider Hart one?

For a number of reasons. For me a legend is someone who transcends beyond simply being either a top player or a loyal one. However they certainly have to be both though to be considered. In short I think the word 'legend' gets thrown around far too much.

Firstly I don't ever think Hart was ever world class (during a world class period for the club) and secondly, while he was loyal to a degree, there's still an arrogance to him I don't like (maybe irrationally, I don't know him).

In the list of my favourite City players over the last 10 years Hart wouldn't even feature in my top 10 so seems crazy to me he should be honoured as a legend. Zab yes. Silva and Kompany when they retire, definitely. Most likely Aguero too. Joe Hart, no thanks.

He'll be back.

Joe is one of those players that have been destroyed by the press and he's in esteemed company with Gazza.

The blame for the England defeat by Iceland was chucked through his window, never mind laid at his door. The game before he'd let in a Bale free kick from fuck knows how far out and the shit hit the fan. Rooneys petulant, frustrated and too fuckin slow trip gave away the needless foul but no mention of this. Or the fact that the England side was fucking abysmal throughout the qualifiers and finals. Or the fact that anyone who'd watched Iceland's progress in the competition should've known they were a very very good team, fit, strong and hard to beat.
So, as recently witnessed during the world cup, the gutter press looked for a scapegoat and Joe got it with both barrels. Once they were into him that was it for Joe's standing in the game. A great young goalkeeper was now a busted flush and they splashed it everywhere. I'd defy anyone not to be psychologically crushed if they received such treatment.
Doubt sets in and a loss of confidence, and by extension, decision making ability follows. Particularly harsh for a keeper given the 'lone' nature of his position on the pitch.

My abiding memory of Hart was the penalty save against Messi. It was right in front of me and a moment i'll never forget.

Good luck Joe lad and thanks for the memories.
Well said, Blue.. agree with many of the points you describe here.. City has had many goalkeeping greats down the generations, from Frank Swift (who I didn’t see play) to Bert Trautmann, Joe Corrigan and Tony Coton (each of whom I did see play) and Joe Hart comfortably claims his spot alongside each of them as a City ‘great’.. Like all great players he has his flaws but over the piece he brought more to the table than most players and his contribution to City’s recent successes should never be underestimated.. Wishing you every success at Burnley, Joe (except against us!)

Quite possibly the worst distributor of the ball Ive ever seen...those goal kicks went out of bounds 90% of the time(unless the idea was field position...?) But ...thanks for the memories big guy
