Yeah, I'm in agreement.

I don't like him, but there's something great about opinionated footballers talking freely on a social medium like Twitter. He can come across as a massive bellend at times, but I'd rather 'follow' a Joey Barton than a dull as fuck Michael Owen.

While i like Joeys opinionated self,i think he needs to learn where to draw the line, what ever differences he has with Neil Warnock should of stayed private, this is the man who got QPR promoted for the first time in 15 years, this is the man who took Joey from Newcastle a place where he wasn't welcome anymore and made him captain,i saw a bit of the Warnock interview and he didn't mention Joey by name so it wasn't aimed at him personally from what i could tell,so for Joey to say what he has said, which is basically Warnock is a clueless manager is low, even by Joeys low standards.

^^This^^ When you consider how much Warnock defended Barton the other week when he was sent off, Barton should have let any differences lie.

The good thing is that Mark Hughes is arguably a tougher Manager than Warnock is (I think he's mellowed in his older years) and won't stand for Barton acting like a twat on Twitter. I was gobsmacked reading those Tweets from yesterday because Warnock gave him a chance when he was rapidly making himself unemployable yet he repays him like that. Barton was giving it "don't argue with fools etc" but someone who continues to shoot himself in the foot is the biggest fool of all.

-- Sat Jan 21, 2012 12:03 pm --

Sir Joseph of Huyton branded himself "wise" once but everyone knows Jesus wasn't born in Liverpool because God couldn't find 3 wise men and a virgin.

Only does it for the thrill of the reaction and based on the number of followers and how much people live their lives through social media now and the ease of running commentary now for the thrill of a headline it seems he is achieving his outcome.

The only people with less neurons working to their advantage than Joey are his followers on twitter.

Stephen Fry and Louis Theroux both follow him on Twitter. I do because he's generally a laugh but I felt he went too far with his criticism of Neil Warnock yesterday. Colin Wanker hadn't even named names.

This knob would cause an argument in an empty house, what he said via twitter about Mike Ashley,Newcastle and Neil Warnock is the act of a coward...Let me tell you a story about him...We went to the Hatton v Castillo fight in Vegas in 2007 it was in the summer and loads of footballers were there. After the fight we ended up in the Luxor Hotel/casino and he was in there on his own his mates were elsewhere, and he stayed with us for about 20mins.He was telling us he had been offered £72,000 off West Ham to go there but he didnt fancy playing under Alan Pardew(ironically his boss at Newcastle a few yrs later). He was getting £60,000 off Newcastle. We brought up the fight,he had in Thailand when on tour with City he said the lad was gobbing off to him,he was about 17 with his dad and a Everton fan.Barton told us the kid kicked him so he went for him and it all kicked off. This is when Richard Dunne had Barton pinned down holding him back...In Bartons own words "IF I WOULD HAVE HAD A GLASS I WOULD HAVE GLASSED HIM".Who the kid??? No Richard Dunne he said...Joey Barton is not wired up right...

Nothing I have read about what he says that the press get a hold of has made me break out in fits of laughter but perhaps Stephen can invite him on as a guest on QI and we can really get our jollies.

At least he has given up the drink for now.

What is the difference between doing stuff on twitter and writing what you did on here?

Don't have much time for either gentleman to be honest. Barton is a horrible, horrible man and a nasty racist to boot. Warnock's a pillock who is so far out of his depth in modern top class football I'm surprised he hasn't been swallowed by a whale. I also suspect there's a lot of similarities between him and Pearce, with both coming over as good old boys to the cameras but complete tossers away from them.

Don't jump to conclusions. I can describe someone as "a laugh" but not actually be laughing with them.

-- Sat Jan 21, 2012 8:12 pm --

Bit harsh on Warnock. His record at going to Clubs where there have been problems and turning them in to promotion outfits is excellent. QPR were something like 20th in the Championship when he took over and they won promotion in his first full season. I still don't believe they were going to be relegated this season but needed to be doing as well as Norwich and Swansea have done in order for him to keep his job. Instinct says Warnock is good for 2 seasons somewhere again but he may finally retire to become a Pundit.

Say what you want about Warnock, but QPR was heading to league 1 and took them to the PL. Then he gave barton a chance when nobody wanted to touch him and Newcastle kicked him out. And this is how he thanks him. the man is an absolute scumbag
