Joey Barton

Been sacked by Bristol Rovers. Got them promoted and then kept them up last season which I'd consider a decent job. Only 6 points off the play offs so a surprising decision.

He's just got a self destruct button. He's one of those strange people that if everything is going well he'll do something to ruin it. No rhyme or reason he'll just do it. There are quite a few in life like that. A decent psychiatrist probably knows why they do it.

Don’t need to be a psychiatrist

The blokes a weapons grade knob

That’s all

Yes and no. Like a lot of council estate kids he struggles with his identity. I know I'm one myself. I'm sorted but many aren't. His family were/are a bunch of psychos too by all accounts. You can see he's got a decent side but where he comes from being decent and kind is seen as a weakness and mocked. You're viewed as soft. He also won't want to be seen as getting ideas above his station by the people he grew up with. I bet a psychiatrist would love a few sessions with him.

Apparently he's been unlucky with injuries. He's only won 1 game in the last 5 matches so it seems rather harsh

For a ticking timebomb like him to last near 3 years, get promotion, and comfortably mid table right now isn't too terrible in my eyes.

I didn't even think he'd last 5 weeks in management to be honest

I understand that the club acquired a new owner in the summer. Owner/chairman asserting his authority? Doesn’t bode well for their future.

His language use towards one player recently was terrible and how he addressed Steve Evans was beyond a joke. The true Joey B always comes out. Needs to compose himself and focus on the game and play. He's done well for a while now. Good luck to him.

He did a decent job at Fleetwood and Bristol but his gob gets him in trouble , his autobigraphy is an interesting read and an eye opener , he doesnt appear to be the uncouth thug many think he is. i am not one of the Joey haters , he was one of a few players in some of our darkest days who gave a shit , unfortunately his attitude ruined any hope of a career at the top level , always thought he was a decent , committed footballer on the field.
