Joey Barton

Lineker style?

Comparisons can come back to haunt you if you intend them to be taken as a serious statement. They tend to be used more to enforce a point through shock value and not as a serious comparison - I suppose that's for the reader to decide.
Not supporting Barton in the slightest - but people do get hung up on what they will.

When I was a kid we had that old tired mantra about "names can never hurt you"...now....fckinell, they can cause WWIII.
You can only use the Lineker comparison if you totally fabricate Lineker’s intent and the actual words he used, which is what his detractors did. With Barton, he made a direct comparison and the justification by his defenders is that it was just hyperbole to make a point.

Hmmm, so everything can be adjusted according to where your views lie. Lineker didn’t mean what he said, but Barton did - how convenient. Thanks for clearing it up.
The confusing beauty of linguistic semantics I suppose.

Lineker will quieten down should our next government neither use inflammatory rhetoric nor try to break international law.

Methinks Barton will keep howling at the moon when he wants a bit of attention, egged on by pink faced mob.

I don't think you understood his point.

Linekar's argument was deliberately skewed by the right-wing media and the subsequent grifters across social media. So when you say Linekar didn't mean what he said, the point is that Linekar didn't say what was reported.

Barton's tweets aren't being skewed by sections of the media/social media.

Linekers views aren't skewed he's a ****.

Bartons views aren't skewed he's a ****.

How has society got to such a point where people are desperately getting their opinions from cunts and posting them almost as facts?

Ah - all in the right wing gammon skewing.
Cheers.

I’m solely talking about current Barton. Not the one who played for us and did a decent job, though the signs were there already about what kind of person he was/is.

There's also some comments about Barton's bullying and entitlement during his playing days come out from other former city players.

Stephen Ireland came off the bench to play as a number 10 and Barton disobeyed the tactics and told Ireland to drop deep whilst Barton played number 10.

The way he has made is argument is very questionable without a doubt but the topic is relevant and from what I can see, a lot of people are thinking what he is saying.

Quality women with insight and knowledge coming into the football media are a welcome addition but a lot are getting jobs due to box ticking, and to be fair that also applies to many of the male pundits.

Is there a minimum quota for alcoholics and gambling addicts?

Thanks for explaining.
It would appear it was falling on deaf ears though.
