We all know it’s a bit of a box ticker. I don’t really have a problem with it tbh in football, most of the women presenters and co commenters are no worse than the blokes.

Danica Patrick on the F1 though is insufferable. She’s an actual moron. It’s funny watching Jenson Button visibly cringe every time she opens her mouth.

I’ve seen some non league and they’re for the most part a load of fat hungover cloggers. An elite women’s team would run rings around them and probably win about 20-0.

Haha hey I’m not saying I follow the women’s game closely, I don’t. I went to one city women’s game about 8 years ago.

But they’re better than a load of pissed up dads in Wythenshawe!

Players who play in pub leagues are better skill wise never mind league one players!!

It’s like how Serena Williams could hardly get a point against her training partner who was ranked something like 5000.

I’m 100% confident if you got 11 male posters on here who are half decent at football and match fit they would win every time against the best ranked team in the women’s game.

And where's all this horseshit about needing previous gold-standard on a particular field to comment on it come from? I don't need to paint a mona lisa to appreciate good art.

Even if they are "box ticking", which is just bigoted parlance for "inclusivity", it doesn't give Barton licence to denigrate them the way he did in the public sphere. What he did was symptomatic of his scummy character.

Sorry mate that's bollocks. WSL players particularly attackers skill and technique level far exceeds the average lower league player.

Even the skilled players at that level, (excluding players that play their way to top like Vardy or Watkins) are there because they have limitations.

Bunny Shaw would score a hat trick against you and Lucy Bronze would run the midfield.

Australian women's team (ranked 5th in the world) lost against a bunch of 14yr old boys. The point Barton is making is that the pundit jobs are given to women for the same reason any job is given to meet a quota and that's not based on merit and it's often detrimental to the product or outcome.

There won't be any serious debate on this however, especially on social media, as no one will want to be associated with the negativity, or labled a mysognogsit for having an opinion or stating facts and evidence (if they are able too). Also, everyone will immediately be jumping on the knight in shining armor, hero of the hour, virtue signalling, meaning their words won't be based on any attempt at debate.

It will look like Barton's opinion is the minority but away from social media the majority of blokes and many females fans actually agree with him.
Being female isn't the issue, being shit is. Being a shit male pundit doesn't mean people only dislike shit female pundits but people are probably actually more vocal about a shit male pundt than a female one. And the female one is there because she's female, even though she's shit, the shit male isn't there because he's male fuck knows why hes there, but they're both still shit.

No pundits are being selected based on their ability lol. They don't do a punditry exam. They're just the right people falling into the right position at the right time. Some are good at it and some are just there because of their star factor or personalities. They're there to appeal to and retain viewers.

Anyway, Joey Barton hasn't taken long to pivot into overt race baiting over the past 24 hrs, which is a fine demonstration of where people who "don't like box ticking" are usually coming from deep down.

He does. As do I. And I'm of the opinion he resorted to snide misogynism to advertise his podcast. It took him a grand total of 12 hours to move from "no women in the punditry room" to "no women in the board room because they instigate adultery". He was being a misogynistic twat. If you're of the opinion he had another agenda, crack on and believe it, it's your opinion afterall.
