Manchester City buy Giudetti - a striker they gave away
Last updated at 12:07 AM on 19th July 2011

Manchester City’s transfer business, from Carlos Tevez right down to reserve player moves, points to a power struggle inside Eastlands.

Such is the seeming lack of cohesion between manager Roberto Mancini and the administrator axis of Garry Cook and Brian Marwood that City bought back a promising striker for a considerable sum after letting him go for free.

Sweden Under 21 forward John Guidetti, who scored 13 goals in 17 games for the reserves last season, is understood to have cost City as much as £1million to reclaim him from Dutch club FC Twente.

Twente had signed him on a Bosman deal when negotiations with City over a new contract broke down.

Guidetti’s father, Mike, arranged the move to Holland when City, the richest club in the world, dithered over a £10,000 fee during talks.

The drawn-out Tevez transfer saga continued with another day of baffling mixed messages from Mancini and the City executive.

Don't like to slag off the management but if thats true following just after the caceido deal - makes them look like right numpties

Forest want to loan him but Mancini not keen on letting him out on loan as he rates Guidetti.

Via Daniel Taylor.

Yeah saw this. It seems bizarre that Mancini wants Eto'o as a 4th forward option but would be unwilling to countenance this move - Guidetti would surely get zero game-time?

That is, unless the Eto'o move is well and truly off.

I had high hopes for Guidetti but he has failed to impress pre-season for me. If we were to loan him out i'd loan him to a Norwich or one of the lower leagues teamin the PL, even Wigan could be the better option if they are interested, he'll still be getting PL experience.

QPR have made an approach to sign him on loan. Guaranteed Premier League football as Warnock is being given nothing to spend.

Feyenoord also want him on loan, chance to improve under Ronald Koeman's guidance but weaker league.

However, the club might not want to let him go, as if Tevez goes, Guidetti will be #4 striker and if both were let go, it'd leave us with no #4 striker unless Nimely gets fit for once, or Bunn is given a promotion. Or unless we sign yet another striker. :P

QPR ask to take Swedish striker on loan

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers have asked to take John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City.

The Swedish forward is held in high regard around Eastlands and was handed a new three-year contract in July.

He is, however, still some way down the senior pecking order and may be forced to look elsewhere for regular games.

A spell on loan at Championship outfit Burnley last season allowed him to take in first-team football, and he impressed during his time at Turf Moor.

It was unclear what his future would hold when he returned to City, with it suggested that he could be set to move on.

Approach

He has committed himself to the Blues, though, and is now looking forward to making his mark in the 2011/12 campaign.

Those opportunities may come away from Eastlands, with City mulling over a loan approach from Premier League new boys QPR.

A number of second tier clubs are also understood to be keen on taking the 19-year-old on a short-term basis.

City have yet to decide what their plans are for Guidetti, with it possible he may be prevented from leaving, but it appears likely that he will soon be loaned out in order to pick up valuable first-team experience.

Would be a good move for him and City, get him some Prem experience.

I'd loan him out no matter what. Im sure there is a striker out there who we can bring in as cover and do as good a job as Guidetti would have done. Someone like a Trezeguet who wont cost much or anything and be happy sitting on the bench.
