Ahhh that's bloody awful news. John was one of the deputy heads at Moston Brook when I was there late 70s early 80s. There were two at the time, the other was a complete fucker, but John was always calmer of the two, a thoroughly nice bloke. I'll always remember in 78, despite him being a blue, he held an assembly to tell all the school about the Munich air disaster 20 years earlier. Ray Wilkins had tipped up too. Leaving school I always loved his commentaries on GMR at the Lancs CC and footie. Latterly on the darts. A nicer man you could never meet. Certainly knows his onions ref the lower league teams and only found out he was a Blue a few months ago.
