Sorry mate we'll have to disagree. Pepe's well past it and I'd rather spend two years with Stones allowing him to make mistakes than two years of Pepe getting worse and worse. On top of that I'd guarantee it would take at least six months for him to get up to speed. If it's as a squad player I could just about understand (I don't want him around anyway because he's a ****) but we'd be mad to go into next season with him as a starter.

Letting him go to PSG would not be crazy whatsoever given that they're not a rival.

How have you come to the conclusion that Pepe is well past it? He's better than every single centre back in England right now.

Stones is doing well and visibly improving, he had a rocky patch at the same time as the whole team did, but other than that he's been one of our more dependable players in my opinion.

I don't think there's a defender in the World we could buy that would never be beaten occasionally in our side, given how exposed our defence is.

what game were you watching ? what errors ? most people on here/ pundits/ all thought he played well.
As far as i can remember he made one mistake where he miscontrolled it and Kompany cleaned up, like defensive partners are supposed to do.

Did it take MDM six months? would you compare Pepe a younger, faster, stronger ,better defender to MDM? Yet MDM gave us a great season. Pepe already plays for a team as physical and fast as any PL team so why would it take him 6 months to get up to speed? If Pep wants Pepe then he has my support any day.
Don't you remember how dreadful MDM was in his first six months? He was worse than Savic ever was. And Stones has been very solid for some time now and is definitely ready to go into next season as a starter.

other then the one chance last night near the end, i can't think of many times where hes had 'the best chances you'd see all season'.

A somewhat free header from a corner that he put straight at Courtois. Not saying they're easy chances but he should be doing better with both, by his reaction it seems he knows it too.

Been low-key our best player since the turn of the year. Can only see him improving from now on wards. Hopefully Vinny is over his fitness problems, and stays for at
least one more season. Stones/Vinny for RCB and a new LCB with Kolarov as a backup would be ideal.

Been decent for the past month or so.

One are of his game I really want to see him achieve is that aggressiveness that Vinny had.

I think players were scared of Vinny because they knew they couldn't bully him wheras I still think Stones gives away a little impression that he can be got at at times.

For all his defensive 'qualities' I think Stonesy would not trouble Joleoninho in the scoring stakes. Joleon always seemed to nick a goal at crucial moments. Stones seems to have some of the best chances you'd see all season when he does get in front of goal but 'rabbit in headlights'!
Had that assist against QPR as well...

so thats maybe 3 chances all season ? the ones last night weren't even clear chances. how many easy goals have aguero, sterling missed ?

I think he's has quite a few. After the Monaco game when he got his first city goal I think he mentioned the fact he'd had quite a few good chances throughout the season. No open goals like last night but free headers or headers where he's won the ball cleanly but the contact has either been right at the keeper or wide.

It's promising. He wins the ball a lot, if he can just improve the contact he makes we could have a 5 goal a season set piece threat.

Not seen a replay while sober, but I thought it took a slight deflection off VK as he was being wrestled to the ground!

It was both behind him and took a slight deflection off Kompany, the fact people are shitting on a CB not being able to finish that is bullshit of the highest order.
