should really have scored his header, and then we might have been looking at a very different evening.

I'm a big fan of his but Barca taught him a lesson tonight. He's still developing so hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes.

He plain and simple can't defend.

Yet.

It was a concern when we bought him and it was shown tonight.

Thankfully we don't play that level of team every week, but the mistakes are adding up.

He looks imperious given the ball and space to move into but as a pure defender I'm not getting it. He got brushed aside or left flat footed quite a few times tonight. At the moment I don't think we are looking at another Pique.

rubbish. he's shown throughout the time he's been here he can defend. he's been one our best defenders,

Must be hard with him being our only true defender at the moment. Quality on the ball and is still learning the game. Not helped by others around him today slipping and sliding about. Hope to see him partner Kompany (if he can stay fit) soon

what games have you been watching. he's been great in the air and mad some great tackles in dangerous positions. i think otamendi and kolarov have looked much worse defensively.

Let's see, how about the last one where he got suckered in for a goal against Everton, who knew exactly what they were doing against him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan. But he is not a defender. He plays there and is very good at other things, but you can run at him and move him about a bit. He may well get there and turn world class if he can add it.

Completed 5 tackles in the league and champions league combined this season...He backs off and backs off and then he is either taken on or they get their shot away. It's like having last seasons Kev at CB when people go at him with the ball.

tbf most opposition teams haven't been in our penalty box so he will have lower stats and we have possesion most games. i also dont think he's the type of defender to go sliding in to tackles

he is a defender and i think most fans think he's played really well for us since he's come. pep and most of the top clubs in europe see him as a really talented defender so i agree with them. he's young and the potential is huge. he will make the odd mistake but that will go the further he gets with us.

He's 22 and still young he has made a few mistakes this season but providing he doesn't have his confidence damaged I think he will become a fine allround defender. Can't agree that a fit Vincent Kompany wouldn't complement his attributes. Vinny makes most partners look good when fit and firing.
