And an Everton who are about to get a new manager. A deal for Stones is far from close.

I was hoping (naively) that perhaps we had laid the foundations for this move and part of Koeman coming in would be him being fully aware Stones would be off but he'd have all the money to reinvest!

Sounds like for this to happen we are going to need Stones and his agent to officially request a transfer and we all know that usually makes it murky for everyone for a few weeks!

Even if Stones is all for the move and wants to come here, I see this transfer doing a "Sterling".....Player unhappy as wants to come, Everton knocking back first and 2nd bid etc, etc....add to that the new manager and new owner and with the euros taking place in the middle of all that....personally think this one will drag on over the summer which is why I really hoping Laporte is the rumoured "close deal" that was mentioned in the 2nd part interview last night.....Find it really interesting as that question wasnt edited out before video was released....seems clear City want us to know something could happen soon with another transfer?

Interesting that obviously a week ago when the chairman's interview was recorded they felt the next deal was "very close", and yet a week later nothing's materialised.

On Stones, no surprise that nothing has happened whilst Everton are changing managers. Would expect as soon as they've firmed up who their next boss will be, that we'll see movement.

It was being told that Laporte deal, though complete would take another week or so to get through because of paperwork and stuff. This could be the reason.

It's possible, but City would know about the time it takes to do paperwork on an international transfer - so it's strange that they'd let Bailey say there's another deal imminent if they didn't feel it was. Anyway I'm sure the reason Laporte hasn't been announced is prosaic enough.

With Owen and now Neville coming out now saying he a quality player and taking a shot at the media getting on Stones back, have the feeling they paving the way for a move to the scum.

You have good source on the stones deal mate?

Not sure why anyone would think this transfer is imminent. Not only is it Everton, it's now a richer Everton who's new owner won't want to lose his two prized assets his first summer in charge.

Would cost us more than Chelsea offered last summer for certain.

In fairness they could get koeman and he has a decent record of replacing his best players from his time at Southampton ;-)
