John Stones

stones suffers from the usual bollocks of being young and english, so when he first emerged he was lauded over, yet he hasn't progressed but then maybe that was because that charlatan martinez was managing him.

Under Pep he may actually live up to the hype, but at present I would rather Tosin was given a chance to step up rather than spunk millions on Stones, Denayer, laporte and one other with us keeping vinny is enough. Tosin and Humphreys brought through.

This has been agreed for a while with stones hasn't it? Only reason he was watching the champions league match??!! Also pellers to Everton might allow us to chuck a player into the deal to soften the fee?

As we were interested while Pelle was here....maybe Everton are less likely to sell if Pelle becomes their new manager?

Any centre backs under the age of 21 who represent this club next season should be from the EDS.

If we sign a new centre back I feel it's got to be somebody of experience, a leader, a finished article, Chiellini, Thiago Silva, Pepe for example. Maybe even Shawcross as a cheaper alternative.

Simply cannot agree with paying around £50 million for a 21 year old, especially when we have three very promising centre halves in Denayer, Tosin and Humphreys.
Well good. John will be 22 in 2 days. Will hust wait till June then. Then we'd have complied with your requirements :p

If you can deal with the annoying black bars at the top and bottom (and Michael Owen), this was a great performance by him. Just one mistake with the free kick and kicking the ball away, but otherwise great.

He's obviously a talented defender, but more importantly, he's a Pep style of defender, and we need to buy the players that let Pep play how he wants to, be it him or Laporte.

As for him only being this expensive because he's English, how much was Mangala? How much is Laporte going to be? Stones is going to be a maximum of £10m more than either of them (if we believe the Mangala price). But having a homegrown player in one of the first team spots saves you a lot of money in the future buying average English players just to have a big enough squad to compete.

Stones looks good in that vid of 1 game. But he is not always that good. I don't rate him as significantly better than Denayer and when you factor in Denayer is our player and is club trained I think it is a no brainer! Stones only for the right price - otherwise give Denayer a chance!
