Match up the media comments to the team .....which one is City which one is the rags if he signs for either

A) Raw, error prone, overpriced defender, I think Everton have done really well in getting the fee they have .....

B) Outstanding English talent, bargain and possibly one of the best ball playing defenders in Europe....he could be worth 65m + with some coaching and he is the future of English football

He'd e a good signing, but not at anywhere near £40m. Does anyone have any info on what Everton would be looking for? I'm guessing the newspaper £50m would be getting mentioned, so I'd imagine they wouldn't take any less than £40m, and for me that's too much.

If you can deal with the annoying black bars at the top and bottom (and Michael Owen), this was a great performance by him. Just one mistake with the free kick and kicking the ball away, but otherwise great.

He's obviously a talented defender, but more importantly, he's a Pep style of defender, and we need to buy the players that let Pep play how he wants to, be it him or Laporte.

As for him only being this expensive because he's English, how much was Mangala? How much is Laporte going to be? Stones is going to be a maximum of £10m more than either of them (if we believe the Mangala price). But having a homegrown player in one of the first team spots saves you a lot of money in the future buying average English players just to have a big enough squad to compete.

I believe he'll be cheaper than Mangala when it's all said and done.
