Food for thought. Debatable squawka a stats but generally a bigger picture presentation of things through data mining.

I compared Stones, with Mangala, Gimenez and Süle.

And the obligatory YouTube clip for £8m rated Sule

Sule is a fantastic prospect. But so is Stones. So is Laporte. So is Tah. And Gimenez. But we can't have all of them. We were linked with 2 of them. One stayed with his old team, and we might get this one. Will he become the best CB in the world? No one knows. But he'd be a starting CB for a top club. Whether this year with us or next year with Barca or Bayern. These young guys are all going to eventually step up. Some will end up being good. Others will be great. Stones will end up somewhere on that spectrum. Hopefully, great with us.

I think this whole ball playing CB thing is over rated. None of Real or Atletico CB's are ball playing CB's. While Pep was at Bayern ,he only had one ball playing CB (Boateng), Ramos / Pepe aren't ball playing CB's but I bet we would all jump at the chance to sign either one of them. You can't just throw 50m on player just because he is "comfortable on the ball", besides you don't need ALL your CB's to be ball playing CB's, Mascherano isn't, Pique is. Pep can make it work with Mangala being the brute ramos/pepe type and Vinny the "ball playing" Pique type.
Boateng, Badstuber, Javi Martinez were all ball playing CBs. Alaba and Kimich when deputizing were ball playing CBs. They just purchased Hummels, another ball playing CB.

Ramos is a ball playing CB. So is the French youngster. Barca has Pique, Macherano Vermaelen, and Jeremy Matthieu. This is not to suggest all teams use them. But possession based teams are infinitely better with them.

i don't think we need to spend stupid money on a young player look at sterling 50 million down the drain but then we look at the academy with Iheanacho thats what we need to do with Jason Denayer

Can't believe we still have people moaning about the money being spent. Sure it's a lot of money but
these days everyone is over priced. Personally i think Stones is a cracking player and will get better
under Pep. If you're of the opinion he is shit, i can handle that, but disagree. But ffs stop moaning
about the price. It's modern football for you.

To all those worried about whether we should pay £50 mil for Stones put simply Everton turned down £40 mil from Chelsea Last year so that is the minimum starting point if we want to buy him. As to whether he is worth that is another matter but the fact Pep wants him Mourinho wanted him and Barcelona wanted him means he is a very good player already. Transfer fees are massively inflated anyway so let's trust Peps judgement and enjoy the ride.

Well considering the market has more or less doubled or atleast 1.5 timed a platers price and we are probably getting Stones at last years price makes me a bit happy. I don't really like him from what I have seen, but ofcourse Pep wants him and I will be behind him. Also I don't think Mangala would ever suit Peps style, I do feel we hoped he would turn out and hence got him in but he is extremely physical but lacks that aspect. So in a way a CB is needed.
