Has he put in a transfer request? I thought he had. If he has, and EFC are just carrying on regardless asking for a record fee for a defender. That's crazy. I am not sure how they can justify that, or how they would explain it to the player. It's as if his wishes are of no consequence. No wonder he struggled last season.

Not sure we'd take the same view if he were one of our top assets. His wishes are hardly purist, idealistic ones and will be balanced for Everton's part by contractual considerations.

In view of the amount they are reportedly seeking for Lukaku, combined with the strength of our interest, I'd be surprised if they settle for much less than the 50 bandied about from day one.

I can only assume that Bony doesn't want to go there or they can't match his wages. It would seem like the perfect deal for everyone. We get Stones. Everton get a replacement for Lukaku who's a similar sort of player and some money. Everyone gets to come out of it looking like they got a good deal.
