John Stones

50 mil for Stones and 15 mil for Bony is a total piss take. Why the hell would we play hard ball over the fee all summer only to agree to this deal? I'm not having it.
I think you're right hgblue we're selling low buying high (if this transfer were to happen). However if we're desperate to get Bony of our books and Pep wants Stones, then playing hardball may backfire particularly when Bony earns around £90k a week.

If Txiki can pull this off (Bony + cash for Stones) and will happily kiss is feet!;) It would clear a spot for Jesus in Jan, it would reduce the transfer fee for Stones, Get a player off our books that clearly very few other teams have shown interest in and save 100k a week off the wage bill. There would be nothing to dislike from this deal...

I know its only a "Sun report" but wasnt it mentioned a while ago on here that we were discussing Bony(with Everton) but the sticking point was wages? So maybe, just maybe there is some turth to this report. fingers crossed!;)

Not sure why Txiki is getting so much credit for this potential deal. Everton will have had our pants down.

Everything is relative though. If Watford are turning down £30m for Deeney, then it's not hard to see why Everton value Stones so highly.

I don't think many on here would have any qualms at selling Bony for £15m in a stand alone deal. If it means we get Stones then I'm all in favour.

Regardless, this is still only based on one single Sun report, so may well not even be true anyway.
I'd say the article was written purely on the basis of seeing the image of his car in Liverpool, nothing more nothing less. Complete guesswork.

I won't be praising Txiki for this deal, it's hardly awesome. However, bottom line is that if it helps get it over the line then all good - I just want Stones.

Maybe, but you can always find particular transfers to fit a narrative. "If Riyad Mahrez only cost £425,000..." etc and so on. Plus you've got to factor in Bony's considerable salary, which probably has to be offset and drives down any potential fee.

Wages are a huge drawback in this scenario. I also think that for City the priority will be getting the Stones deal done without giving the papers the headline of "England's 50 million pound man". If they can do that by allowing Everton to undervalue Bony then I suspect they'll do it. Especially as you say when Bony will be on a wage that will be difficult for most clubs in England and almost all clubs in Europe to get near. Certainly the types of clubs that you'd expect to come in for him.

Pants down yes ,sometimes you got to cut your loses,he's never gunna do anything here.daft thing is you could see he weren't good enough anyway before we signed him, ridiculous waste of money

Maybe we can have like a running Txiki-O-Meter where people get to rate his performance on every deal. Does seem like more and more people seem as interested in his performance as they are in the players we're actually signing.

We could think of it as we are selling him to Everton for 25m but we are taking 10m of that to pay him wages that are due over his contract. Just to get room in the 17 for someone who well try to get 10m cheaper now than later. All works out. :-)
