John Stones

If Denyer was the real deal, he would not have been allowed to go back out on loan last season, especially as MD was coming to the end of his career.

If we get both Stones and Laporte, I would think its more than possible he , Denyer will go back to Turkey for another season.
Denayer is a RB. People need to get over the position he played as a youth. As an adult, he'll be a RB

As for Denayer, we will see if this player is of the level Scottish and Turkish league. As you all know he plays for Belgium where he is very highly rated. As a centre back.

Stones is a really good player at such young age. But as usual with British players being bigger up to the point teams will actually pay 50million. Even Michael Owen says Stones is the only England player to walk in to the Barcelona side. That made me choke on me tea..

Anyway my guess is Laporte to be the one we are after and the sole defender to come in.

People on here slagging stones off is shocking.
He's a young courted centre half wanted by some of the greatest mangers in history..

Denayer can't be all that otherwise he wouldn't be farmed out to Celtic then turkey.
I don't care how young or inexperienced he is of your good enough at any age you get in the team like Rooney at Everton, messi at barca,
Rashford over at the swamp and our very own kelechi

I don't claim to have seen enough of Denayer to know how good he is. What I have seen looks promising, but I know quite a few Celtic season ticket holders and their opinion was unanimously positive, often rating him above Van Dijk who hasn't disgraced himself since moving to the premiership.

Denayer was promised first team squad last season, signed his new contract, then pellegrini decided to keep demichelis for another season, thinking it was the better and safer option, Jason could of requested a transfer, within his rights as city didn't keep their end of the bargain but went on loan, he was told months ago he would be coming back to city under orders from pep, hes good enough, no worries on that department, stones could turn out to be a real talent with better players around him that's for certain

Honestly I think whether he gets loaned out again next season depends on how he performs for Belgium in the Euro. It's an easy thing for Pep. Just wait and see how Denayee performs in the big stage. If he plays well, I think we'll keep all of Stones, Laporte, and Denayer along with Kompany and Otamendi as well. Stones and Denayer can play RB and with Vinnie's injury proneness, having more CBs is not a disadvantage.

I'm actually adamant that somebody like Stones could play the Busquets role. He has all the attributes to do so.

He could play there tbh

If we were to get both Laporte and Stones, it would seem logical to play stones there because personally I think it would be a bold move for pep to bench kompany (when he's fit) unless he goes for 3 at the back...

Totally agree!
This kid has the lot in my opinion and the errors he has been prone to this season can all be ironed out by good coaching, he had Martinez coaching him FFS.
He can also play at RB too. Laporte apparently can also play LB. I am of the opinion both Stones and Laportes potential to fill numerous postions is one of the main reasons we want them, especially considering they can both fill full back roles, which is a huge issue for us.

Don't see that at all.... Centre half all day to me...

Oh, Stones didn't play last night and we keep a clean sheet. Don't say the evidence isn't there... ;)

Denayer will be back next season, and if his Turkish performance is anything to go by, Saw 4 games start to finish. He'd be our starting RB easily.

He is actually quite good at it. And his instincts for getting forward are similar to Zab's.

Watch his games in Turkey, if they didn't tell you he played RB for City as a youth, you'd think RB was his natural position. It very well may be that it is. He is not exceptionally big for the position. Frankly, he might be slightly small as a CB in the Prem anyway.

Still say if he comes it will be to play both at CB and in CDM and him and Laporte are the kind of players Pep can convert to CDM. Flexibility is key and will be some surprises.

I was hoping for news on this signing when I saw the thread bumped. This is the one deal I'd like above the reported others.

apparently Everton have upwards of £100m to spend this summer! I know they have new investment now but I can see the £100m being generated from the stones and lukaku sales alone! I also think there pursuit of koeman tells its own tale! I think they've gone for him and told him they're intending to sell stones and lukaku but he'll have the lot to re-invest! Everton want him because he has overseen Southampton selling their best players and still managed to make progress in the league!

Every Premier League team this coming season can spend £100m+ with the new TV deal.

Sorting the men from the boys so to speak, will be which teams that can spend £250m+ or even £300m+

Or spend nothing as they have talented scouts that can spot a talent before anyone else.

Back on topic, I think Stones would be great at City and under Pep would flourish. Earlier in the thread someone stated like a young Alan Hansen, and I totally agree with that.

Exciting times blues, get yourselves strapped in.
