John Stones

Trevor Francis was on the radio yesterday, talking about Pogba (probably) becoming the first £100m player. Francis was very clear that being the first £1m player was a big deal for him. Said that when City signed Steve Daley for £1.5m it was a huge relief! Transfer fees do create pressure, especially if the player struggles early on.

IMO Pogba will flop, the £100m price tag will weigh down on him and he will try to do too much and will be surrounded by mediocre players in midfield making it even harder for him.

Interesting bit on Francis, I really am hoping we don't meet Everton's valuation of Stones.

Personally would rather not have the player if we have to make him the world's most expensive defender which is the title that would be constantly associated with him, you wouldn't see one article or report on Stones without mentioning it. Articles and commentary would go like this:

World's most expensive defender makes a mistake that leads to a goal.

World's most expensive defender starts today's game on the bench for City (even if hes being rested/rotated).

World's most expensive defender can't make the England starting eleven.

We wouldn't hear the end of it!!!

Its too much pressure for a 22-year old kid, he wouldn't be able to cope.

@mattyb drop me a pm when they start working on Bonucci or Aubameyang's graphics;D

Nice one

I will if I hear anything!

I posted a few weeks back that I'm anticipating a busy summer, as they Sane digital work has been outsourced to a 3rd party, which means they expect the internal team to be maxed out.

Good point. I'm just assuming he will, but it's difficult to say for certain. He's experimented a bit in the friendlies so far, but I'd be surprised if he started with a back three. I think he'll wait until all the centre halves are fit before trying that competitively.

I think he will mostly use a back four in terms of personnel but we might well see plenty of Dinho dropping back in between the centre backs whilst full backs push on.

In terms of time it's how longs a piece of string to be honest. All depends on the media work, photos, agancy availability, people on the job... So many variables go into it.

You're correct in assuming its expensive, it really is. Typically they will run an estimated risk analysis on the transfer before starting / commissioning the work.

They don't get many wrong in my experience, but it has happened where transfers have fallen through in the past. Not just at city, but at most clubs
Go on then, tell us who city had graphics done for that never came off. Kaka?

And yet reportedly the reason why this deal has not gone through is because we value him at £40m and EFC at £50m. You can't say in one sentence that "I am not sure why we are even talking about the fee", and in the next "we pay what we think is correct". That seems to me to be a contradiction.

I am not sure why you're talking about the fee though.

You will pay what you think is correct. Or rather, you'll try to.

Everton will accept or reject that depending on whether or not that fee is £50,000,000.

There's nothing else to discuss and that's why I'm not sure people are talking about the fee.

Wonder if the Everton fans will sing 'Money can't buy you Stones' for much longer, doubt it myself!

Do you find it reassuring to repeat that?
