John Stones

Does not surprise me that Stones wants out, we bought him as an injury error prone player, and quite frankly we have improved him, but we play the high back line which takes pace, Stones does not have pace and believes this causes injuries, most of Stones`s errors have come after coming back from injury, so he is looking for a team that plays deeper to prolong his Career, Arsenal probably, Koulibaly is not Stones`s replacement he is Kompany`s Pep needs to look at what he needs and that is a pacy CD Zakaria is one of the fastest he is also decent in the air and unlike Stones he can play midfield

If Koulibaly signs then he is gone but we will get a good fee for him
He is gone but the rest of your statement is very wrong.

He has a very good contract, that 99% of clubs who want him, would not pay.

He will leave cheaply, the only way we will get him out of the door.

He wants out? I doubt it.

Everything he has said indicates he is going nowhere and that he loves being at City.

If Stones stays we need to give him a contract extension to protect him as an asset. He will be in his final year come next summer, which he could easily run down and find a club at the end of it willing to give him a nice sign on bonus.

Do we want to extend a player that's inconsistent, already on high wages, injury ridden and would likely be happy to sit on a lucrative contract long term if he's in the squad as a 4/5th choice CB?

My opinion is that the club need to be absolutely ruthless and get him out whilst he's still got two years left on his deal.

Yes, he would be a good back up option for the club, but do we really need someone like him clogging up space (I know he's homegrown) when we would likely only need to call on him for cup games and the odd relegation fodder appearance in the league? We have players like Fernandinho, Harwood-Bellis and Adarabioyo that can do that job. Obviously not as good as Stones right now (well, Fernandinho might be), but do we need someone on £120k per week and could potentially fetch us a £20m+ fee this summer to line up against the likes of Port Vale in the league cup?

3 quality options in Laporte, Koulibaly and Ake (who has comfortably played on the right for Bournemouth), an experienced head in Fernandinho and a youthful option in either THB or Adarabioyo. We don't need John Stones anymore.

Bang on. Having a trio of Aké, Laporte and Koulibaly is a sick upgrade to the centreback options we've had in the past years. If we can get around 30m for Stones, the fee for Koulibaly won't sting too much. And if anyone from the academy proves worthy of a 4th place, he'll be added. If not, then I can see a fourth CB coming in next summer.

I've said it on here before, but I wouldn't put much stock into what he says on social media.

1.) he may not even be the one posting it - a lot of players have teams that handle these accounts.
2.) even if it is him, he's hardly going to come out and say I'm leaving. What he said is just typical PR puff.
