I just hope there is a plan B as with Eto. I can still see Toure happening whatever the merits. Upson and Alves seem to be other options if Lescott and Terry dont happen.

West Ham want £15 million for Upson. Is he better than Dunne and Ben Haim. I think so.

he is better than dunne and ben haim, but not alot better imo, think he is probably the last on our list! but what do i know . . . . . . . .

Don't panic. We still look likely to get at least two of the three targets. Ok, we can panic about the possibility of Ned leaving. I think it is a possibility, so we should continue to make their feelings known. On the other hand, there appears to have been movement on the Toure bid. Lescott, well, perhaps our initial confidence was a little premature, but I still firmly believe he wants to come, and City and Everton will eventually find an acceptable compromise.

Terry is a special case, he is clearly being targeted for his leadership qualities as much as his defensive abilities. Love him or hate him, he is the best leader a premiership team could have. I think it's understandable if Hughes wants to pursue this one to the end, because, whilst there are plenty of other capable defenders who may be available, I can't think of any who can offer anywhere near as much, in terms of leadership. He'd be worth waiting for.

I'm sure we have plans B, C & D. However I reckon that Terry is a different proposition to any other centre half we may or may not get. It's the Terry package that we need to be able to get to the level that Scum, Chelsea and Liverpool are at. I don't see Terry as the "statement of intent" or "weakening Chelsea". There are better defenders than Terry (Goofy fooker for a start) but it is Terry that we need because of what he brings to the team.

it could be said that whatever happens now terry is staying or going for the money. if he comes to city he doubles his money. if he stays at chelsea its because they have given him a higher wage to keep him. if he really was mr chelsea then extra money when you're already on a big wage shouldn't matter one bit. but it has...

Bob, do you not see city as being ambitious?

I do.

But no matter how big your ambitions are and how much money you're willing to spend it'll take time for you to reach the level of the Europe's elite and Terry knows it better than anybody after going through it with Chelsea.

He's 29 this year and spent quite some time out with injuries over the last few seasons. His legendary status at his club, public image as Mr.Chelsea and Captain England aside he'll have to take a huge risk by accepting City offer because there are no guarantees how the things will turn out in the next few years. I'm sure MCFC will break into the top four eventually and will start winning trophies because with the amount of money the sheik is willing to spend it's only a matter of time before it'll happen.

The question is rather not if but when? Robinho,Tevez or Adebayor have got time on their side,Terry doesn't. Not only will he be branded a money grabber by every non City fan in the country, he'll risk to tarnish his reputation and legacy and quite likely end up winning less trophies just because he decided to make more money before his back finally gives up on him.

That's quite a gamble and some would say he's very likely to lose more than gain by going through with it.
