That this Terry business is a statement that we are making as a football club, rather like Robinho last summer!

Regardless of the deal, signing the England captain and showing that he wants to play for City is basically saying to the world, "Hello, we mean business".
So if everybody will calm down about the ludicrous money involved! Its a club statement! Cheers, LCBblue.

Where is this club statement?

Oh, well Ajay is hinting on it then it must be true right?

Come on, just because he backed out of a game and hasn't made a statement doesn't mean he's interested ffs. Mr. Chelsea isn't going to leave his beloved club in the prime of his career for a mid table side which can offer him nothing but money, let's be realistic. Don't forget Terry is one of the best paid footballers around, he makes millions upon millions a year already.

Not to mention Chelsea have a very good shot at winning the league this year. Arsenal looks vulnerable, Liverpool has massive financial problems which could very well lead to on the field issues, Utd lost Ronaldo and Tevez. Chelsea looks in good shape.

You're all reading way to much into this. Terry hasn't made a statement and that means he wants to come join the club? Come on! I can see where you're coming from but come on, it's a huge stretch.

with the prospect of terry, tevez, barry, eto'o,lescott, rsc and a couple others we could mount a serious assult on the league title next season ! man u look to be on their arses abit, arsenal are on the wane too so you never know. the future looks to be quite brighter than the picture you paint

Re: £300 grand a week for terry..£40 mill bid.

I have long since cared not what the media says about these figures. They are being proved wrong at every turs and they are a pack of rabid snivelling coyotes. It is pissing them off to be shown to be wrong all the time and so they're doing the next best thing and having assorted tamptrums. They are all six years of age.

As for the City statement, that tells me we might be after the title.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but apparently we've had a private bid publically rejected by Chelsea.

Sorry if already posted.

(^^^ Is about half of what this thread is, surely, if you want to contribute, you'd at least read it first?!)

Can't believe that we have the means to scare Chelski half to death these days.

Good thought. I've been coming round to the same idea myself.

Once our chairman confirmed Mark Hughes would still be the manager next season, it signalled the end of the will-he won't-he threads. The press also settled down. I think we fans settled down as well.

Cue the surprise signing, for me anyway, of Gareth Barry so early in the transfer window. Plus the Carlos Tevez saga, and all other clubs began to take notice.

I'm afraid I've been around during the bad old days, when money was non-existent and we were linked with journeymen signings. How far have we come since ?

It's great seeing our benevolent owner willing to invest such large amounts - and as many of you are already saying, we are playing with serious money which leaves us pretty much acting as the 'banker'

Good days indeed !
