Ha, the wording of that is quite amusing. IF he is so attached to Chelsea, why do they sound so threatened by our two approaches?
We would like to make clear, and will not do so again, that John is not for sale.
They are not putting out a feeling of confidence by saying something like that.

The avoidance of debate in the statement '...will not do so again..' is normally a lie, same as 'i will only say this once' according to Dr Paul Ekman.

Thought about it more and here's my theory...

- Chelsea were willing to sell us Terry and we agreed terms with Terry
- He did his medical at one of these blackwindow things we heard rumoured (along with Tevez)
- Everyone was set to make the announcement tomorrow with just lose ends to tie up with Chelsea
- Late tonight Chelsea or City couldn't agree on something in the deal
- Chelsea threatened to pull the plug FOR GOOD with a public statement
- City said go on then
- Terry is pissed but Chelsea may compensate him somehow
- City aren't happy now as they can't go back (Cook especially as he had led everyone to believe it was done) but accept that in the end they need to hold firm in negotiations (so ADUG is still happy with Cooke)

Just my theory.

quite a complex scenario

how long does JT have left on his contract ?

if £25mil is fair offer for one of the best strikers in the world (Etoo) then £30mil seems a pretty big punt for a defender

whats the highest transfer fee anyone can remember for a defender ? £18mil Glen Johnson to Liverpool ??

It was only last year we set the UK transfer record with £32 mil for robbie

I think £30mil IS a pretty impressive bid myself - all those saying - its not much of an offer have lost perspective in my opinion

29 million for druggie

This bid / link was more of a "Look F*ck stick we are here and we aint goina way" than anything else.. statement of intent, cock boasting call it what you will but one things for real.. City mean business and thats what pleases me most :)

i think your right mate, each transfer window we go for top level players then sign the younger up and coming ones.
i.e. linked with rsc get bellamy, this window we get barry, rsc & tevez (hopefully) the most wanted from the last window, only problem is madrid have bought all the top name players this year. Who do we go for next year? But at least all the top players have gone to spain and not the top 4! what do you reckon?
Good point, Mate im pleased with our progress rgeardless of the money, it was always goin to be a tough task and we've come along way, MH is buildin asolid foundation but at the same time ruffling feathers as we go, maybe not next year but soon I believe top names will come looking for us :)

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer

Point of order: I believe that, in the transfer forum, the customary use of the epithet 'rag' is to nail those who are talking down our chances of world domination, or signing such and such (see:blow-them-out-of-the-water). Hence, Pam's priceless neologism, 'ragzoid talk', coined in response to an outbreak of doom-mongering and naysaying in the Eto'o thread.

'giddiness' seems to be the preferred antonym to 'ragzoid talk', but I'm not aware of an suitably accompanying epithet for the giddy ones.
