Firstly, i'm delighted he isn't coming.

Secondly, what the fuck were we thinking? There isn't a cat in hells chance we would get Terry so why bother being embarressed by attempting?

Shocking and terrible move by City on both levels.

I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but when it comes to comparing City to anything else in the entire universe, you're an arse! ;)

You can't be serious about your ambitions if you're not even among the best clubs in your own country yet.

If you are not one of the best clubs in the country, any ambition to become one of the best clubs, is not a serious ambition?

Perhaps we understand "ambition" and "serious" differently.

Pasta you have an inferiority complex.

We are City! Who gives a flying Fook what other fans or clubs think about us.

Winning mate is not a popularity contest, its about being the best, sometimes being disliked because of that winners attitude.

I for one am enjoying us finally putting out weight around and im going to enjoy watching us assemble a world class squad over the coming years!

And that my fellow blue is exactly what our owners want as well.

You're absolutely right about not caring what others think when it comes to winning, but the problem is you're yet to win anything so until you back up your off pitch arrogance with performances on the pitch you won't attract real winners.

Mourinho was arrogance personified and the team he built resembled him in that respect, too but they didn't just talk big, that's why they commanded respect even from those who didn't particularly liked Abramovich's wealth, Mourinho's attitude or Chelsea's playing style.

Understand you point mate.

Understand ours please.

Just like your team, we have to start somewhere. This summer is the real start of what we hope we are about to become.

Lets not kid ourselves here Bob. The common thing that Chelsea, Liverpool, Rags, Arsenal, Barca, Real Madrid, AC, Inter, you get my drift is that they have been the dominant and successful teams for one reason, MONEY!

Thats right if you have money, you get to buy the best players, you do that because you can offer them the most money. Please dont kid yourself that the top players play for you because of your history because that is just plain bollox.

Guess what? We now have more money than anyone, our owners are very ambitious people, they dont take no for an answer lightly, we are going to do what your team and the ones mentioned above have been doing for years. Thats right we are going to outspend you all, offer the best wages to the best players. We are going to become successful because history tells me ( read above ) that money will virtually gaureentee that. Does what ive said ring any bells to you and remind you of your recent history?

Now Bob, im sure your a decent bloke and i have no problem with fellow fans on our site but please remember this.

Dont come on here giving it the big i am! Dont be telling us that we have no right trying to join your little cosy club! Dont tell us that we have no right to try and buy the worlds best players! And dont tell us that we have no right to be expecting to win things!

Other than that mate. welcome, here's to another season of football and hopefully one that will be the start of something very very special for my club.

BTW. I dont apologise for my way of thinking!

CTID

You sir have well and truely just hit the nail on the head

a lot of people on this forum should be taking to your way of thinking and not this media imposed way of thinking where city are punching above thier weight

OH MY GOD!!!! How arrogant are we becoming. We get a wealthy investor into the club, try to bring in some world stars - and people have the audacity to say " didnt want them anyway" or "he's not good enough to play for us!!" Wake up fellow blues, do you not remember the calibre of players who have played for us in the past????

There's nothing wrong in being arrogant?
Arrogance breeds confidence and confidence breeds winning......
Look at all sports and the one's at the top of there game all have an arrogance about them.
The sooner we get rid of this "typical City" or "it's only City" attitude the better if we're going to move forward!!
Fair play mate, i just dont know where people get off sayin we're too good for John Terry

Me neither?
You can't win without winners in your side...........
Exactly. Two premier league medals, two f.a. cup winners medals, a league cup medal.....

we shouldn't be buying big time names until we get a trophy

but we won't win anything until we buy big time names

Maybe not win something but at least get into CL first. You can't be serious about your ambitions if you're not even among the best clubs in your own country yet.

What I meant was you'd have been better off buying players who are on the up but not there yet, like Marek Hamsik,Ezequiel Lavezzi,Eden Hazard,Jerome Boateng etc, you know the players who are hungry for success and want to make a name for themselves rather than going after big name stars who won it all with other clubs and see you as a last opportunity to set up a nice retirement fund.

SpongeBob - our owners want success and want it quite quickly...they have ten times the money of Red Rom and probably a bit more on top so overpaying a bit for players and paying top wages doesn't really make much difference. And what the manager wants is top quality proven premiership players to get us into the top four...taking punts on untried johnny foreigners isn't going to happen often but going for established premiership players will. Bearing that in mind, there is very little point in buying players that will push us up the table a little bit...so going for Tevez, Barry, Lescott and Terry etc is the way forward.

ok bob but if the players are saying " hey boss JT want's a chat" or his agent or CFC for that matter , then why the fuck not have ago

or should we just stick to fringe type CL players?

I'm convinced Terry does have a release clause.
I'm convinced we know what it is.
I'm convinced Chelsea know we know.
I'm convinced the statement was released (and in such terms) because Kenyon et al are cya - covering their arses, "not my fault!".

Well, I'm not that convinced.

Dont be quoting me.... ;-)

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Haha, we've got a Chelsea fan telling when we can and can't buy players? Sorry but thats a bit rich, i mean Mikel just decided he wanted to go to Chelsea over Utd from the good of his heart? It wasn't CHelsea being one of the first clubs to offer £100k + wages that enticed players. You were already in the CL and not signing "big" names.

The thing is, we can show ambition here and now, and i think the links to Tevez, Eto'o, Terry et al shows that. There is no rule book where we're concerned, so theres nothing to stick to, no rules to break.

We're building the foundations to be challenging for long term; your aware we're after the names i've mentioned but we've had at least 4 academy players on the pitch at half time last season signing deals with the club, we're doing everything the "right" way. Throw a load of money at one "superstar" (a la Kaka) and bringing in the wonderkids of this world should become much easier.

I don't mind not getting Terry; you're welcome to the man who epitimises every evil in football. But please, don't tell us how to do things, in all honesty, you haven't got a clue... just like the rest of us!
