Bob, we've got our very own John Terry in the making in the form of Ben Mee. Will take a few seasons but imo he has many attributes similar to the way JT plays.

There isn't really another JT out there but we will improve our defence greatly with Lescott if we do manage to land him. Either way I have faith that MH will recruit quality defenders to take us to the next level regardless of who they may be. I'd guess we'll know in the next 7-10 days.

In years to come do you think that we could have a back four of Richards, Onuoha, Mee and McGivern. By this time we'll be in the champions league so are these good enough?

This is the JT thread but hey ho....
Regarding to Ben Mee, yes imo he'll be a top quality CH. Doesn't rely on pace and he's not particulary tall, but his reading of the game, timing of the tackle and heading prowess are 1st class. He just lacks experience at the moment.
All opinion of course but Ben, Ned and Micah(fingers crossed he has a 2nd wind) give me high hopes for the future of our back 4 in the mid to long term.

Look people, John Terry was never ever going to come straight out and say he was never going to leave Chelsea. He needed us to maintain our interest and he needed Chelsea to think it was a real possibility he could leave.

If he came out at day one and said he was never ever going to leave Chelsea do you think they would offer him a new deal? I don't get why this is so hard to understand.

OK so what you say could very well be true. But the other possibility is that he hasn't said anything because he is in fact thinking of leaving. Sometimes we "typical City!" fans are so pessimistic that we just can't bring ourselves to believe that something marvellous is about to happen.

And given what we are reading at the minute which would you say it is likely to be then?

i'm getting irritated by smartarse Blues saying "he was never going to come anyway".

The deal's not dead yet and even if he stays, we certainly got close.

Sorry but fail to see what difference getting close makes. tell you what when Drogba is running through in the last minute of the cup final can we stop play and say sorry old son but we nearly had terry covering that run so if you would just give us the ball back there a good fellow.

And for your info am not a smartarse but strangely am allowed an opinion

There is noway he is worth 250 k a week I think we should just move onto our next target, who would sit on a wage like 80 - 120 k which is understandable in this day and age for a defender the deal John Terry will supposedly get at Manchester City is very stupid. The man isn't anywhere near the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of class or anything else for that matter besides is supposed leadership skills.

250 k (for a defender is stupid)
Cheaper alternatives and have Barry/Kompany captains.

If he joins Manchester City on the wage reported I will definitely be upset, and even though I will cheer and think oh yes we have a world-class defender the transfer fee and the wage each week shows he is only their for the money and nothing else. Robinho - Adeabayor - Tevez are exceptions but wait 160 K Robinho compared to John Terry 250 K is a massive difference when one is a defender and one is a LW - ST.

1,000 up so thought I'd share this with you.

I had a dream last night about Terry.... he passed to me, a quick one two and he slotted it home. I went to congratulate him saying 'Good lad John, us sky blues have got to stick together'. He didn't look amused.
