Sorry, if this is a double post, but no, Matthew Harding saved the club from going into administration and prevented the club from being sold. He didn't pump money into the club to buy players. He basically helped us to survive, Ken Bates, the shrewd businessman he is, managed the money quite well (despite being in debt), and that allowed us to buy players like Gullit, Vialli etc.

I'd like to see a top flight team that hasn't had investment at the level which Harding pumped into the club.

I refuse to believe we bought success in the 90s', but will happily admit we did in the mid 2000s'.

So following Harding's major investment (and I'm pretty certain it dwarfed ours and most other clubs at the time), and the buying of those players you mentioned, you leapt from a team who'd spent four years in mid-table and immediately became a top 6 side who started winning trophies.

I'm glad we've cleared that up.

Well we were pretty good from 1990 onwards and if I'm not mistaken, most of his investment came around 1993/1994 time, where we were threatened with administration.

As I say, I think it was more good money management by Bates and additional revenue from the Premier League that really got us up into the top six. I maintain that Harding saved the club. He wasn't even that rich as I remember him :S His sons live near me (West Sussex) and they drive around in a Ford Fiesta Turbo and look pwoper gangsta innit and we used to keep our horse on Harding's land which was grand but not as grand as Paul McCartney's house and one of Roman Abramovic's estates, both of which are also in Sussex.

So you have deducted that because Wayne Bridge may not have been at John Terry's wedding there is no chance Terry might have contact Bridge about a possible move to City in January.
