Johnson - the closest thing since Giggs?

Johnson is the closest thing I have seen to Giggs in a very long time.

I saw Giggs make his debut against us (how did Wayne Clarke hit the post from there?)

He possesses the same directness, and closeness of control. It is also a long time since this club had anyone who can individually bring the play a good 30 or 40 yards upfield in our favour.

Very rarely do I get carried away by people at the outset of their careers, but I have seen enough football in my lifetime to recognise when somebody has ALL the fundamentals of the game.

There is a real desire and even at 22, he already has something which Giggs was not able to produce until later into his prime - a final ball.

This kid is only going to get better and better. There is a certain karma surrounding this. We were stiffed on Giggs, Johnson turned his back on the dark side to come to us.

A World Cup bet?
I'd love to have your optimism mate but we'll soon coach that out of him, did you notice that last night he took several quality corners then in the second half kept hitting the first man! can just imagine the half time chat "listen son, you've put four quality corners in there and its just not city, hit the first man will you"

watching him last night, its hard to tell which way he is going to go. Being almost equally as good on both feet you just dont know where he is going to go.
Also, his pace is deceiving. He was going down the right in the 2nd half and the bolton thug was after him, all of a sudden he shifted up to the next gear and was just about to leave said thug in his dust. But the dirty fuck brought him down. The change of pace was very refreshing to see.

Made some quality passes too, some so good that the intended recipient didnt pick it up on time.

Impressed for now anyway. Hope he keeps a starting place

Big shoes to fill Tolmie but have to say we really could have a superstar on our hands here .....

Saying that 2 bad games and suddenly he'll become as popular as Gary Glitter at a kids party! ;-)[/quote]

pahahahaa

Looks a great buy, he will get targeted though and we will have to see how he deals with that.

Glitter has bought a house only a stones throw from me, think he might have one or two surprises coming his way in the not too distant future.

So....

Weiss = Ronaldo

Johnson = Giggs

M. Johnson = Bell

We'll have a shit hot team in a few years ;-)

considering it took giggs the best part of 10 years to learn how to actually put a decent cross into the box at the end of all his "wing wizardry".... then i sincerely hope he is fuck all like giggs.

He's from the Sunderland area too ..... Colin Bell country.
