Joie Stadium

Interesting piece looking at stadiums for the women's game. We get a name check for the pram park ( a gazebo behind W1) but no other mention which is odd , given we are the only WSL with our own stadium .

I read that and am poorer for it, it's a football stadium not a theme park.

I think Chelsea women own their stadium too (although it is in the arse end of nowhere).

I think we might have been the first to build one especially though. Brighton have also had planning permission to build a stadium specifically for their women (which is actually great for them as even the men's team dont have a stadium in a central part of town)

I don't want to labour the point, but the Joie stadium isn't and wasn't exclusively for our women's teams. All of our youth teams male and female play competitive games there.
In fact, our PL2 lads are playing there tomorrow.

"At 19:00 (UK) on Friday 26 September, fans will be able to watch our next Premier League 2 assignment against Southampton live on CITY+.
This match against the Saints will mark the next clash of the 2025/26 campaign for Ben Wilkinson’s Blues at the Joie Stadium."

Sure, and it's correct that these stadiums should be used for multiple purposes. But the naming rights to the stadium were negotiated on the basis of it being the women's stadium and the investment that came with it was promoted as being an investment in the women's game. In the event of a fixture clash with the academy team I would imagine it wouldn't be the women's team making way to accommodate. These are the things people are talking about. For all of the up side of Arsenal women playing their league games at Emirates, they were left stuck when it came to scheduling champions league games last season due to clashes with the men's league cup. And United v Chelsea had to be moved because of Leigh's fixture schedule. There's only us, Chelsea and now Everton who have that security.

Chelsea women have their own stadium, which just like the Joie is used by other teams,
