I too thought Joleon was outstanding tonight.

He has hardly put a foot wrong all tournament and his header for England's opening goal was superb.

It will be an interesting battle if Mario plays for Italy in the quarter-final.

I would say when a centre half has played an outstanding game YOU do notice them.

And that is a perfectly acceptable opinion to have.

Perhaps i should have worded it. If you dont notice the player who the centre half is marking and you dont notice the centre half, he has had a superb game.

I have never liked defenders who dive in and look heroic, it masks deficiencies in there game. My opinion of course.

and I agree with you but the actual first post was about how well Lescott played. 6 pages later and we are still having an arguement about a so called nickname he may or may not have and now we all have to state at what level we played football at ? only BM could move so off topic without leaving the thread.

The main thing is that we have a very very good CB in Lescott who doesn't need replacing. We need a back up is all.

Joleon was very effective again tonight, as were the back 4 in general and Gerrard was excellent. Nothing much in front of them tonight though.
