Joleon Lescott

Love him, just love him.

Surely they were all sideways and backwards passes though, weren't they?

not sure the stats go into that much detail mate, nice of you to belittle his passing despite the good stats though

If De Jong had that stat everyone would say he has done his job. Get the ball and give it to people who can do a bit more with it.

Well done Joleon.

Not sure why we have completely forgotten that some players are great, some players are awful and some (most) fall somewhere in-between?

Lescott for me is average to good, depending on the day.

Rarely awful, never great, easy to replace with better but decent enough until we do (which we should, and will).

It's not that people say he's rubbish with it at his feet, it's the fact and i will admit i'm one of these people who say it..

when he has the ball and a player is within 10 yards of him he's so uncomfortable on the ball.

a high percentage rate looks good when you pass the ball to another player, who's no more than 5 yards away, 25-30 times a game.

the point is he can't pass a ball further than 15 yards forward without giving it away, and his get out if he can't is a huge lump forward.

anyway his passing forward doesn't concern me, i just wish he would stop twatting it forward for no reason.

Well if he can't pass the ball more than 10 yards successfully isn't he doing the correct thing in getting rid of it but retaining position. How can 100% success rate be a bad thing??

He's mile better than Kolo, don't even know why its up for debate anymore. Kolo at his best for us hasn't been as good as Lescott in the past 6-8 months. The real question should be - Savic or Lescott?

Since Liverpool away last season, He has been our best defender without any doubt. JL deserves better from some supporters

It seems a lot of people are forgetting the pass he made to Nasri/Kolarov for our third.

Not at all mate, just being sarcastic knowing someone would bring it up. Will someone?

-- Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:35 pm --

Totally agree mate and as we seen the other day, we miss him when not there. If you watch him he is immense in sorting the defence out as well, pulling players here and there to suit.

Vince is good but Lescott has a lot of experience to pass on. One ball player and one hoofer, that's usually a good combination in any decent defence.

I like Joleoninho. Great defender but not much of a footballer. Do the stats tell us that 99% of the passes were back to the person who passed to him, and/or didn't exceed ten metres?
This is the reason (imo)Mancini didn't play him because he thought Bayern would've slaughtered him when he had possession.

Instead they slaughtered Kolo when they had possession.
