Haha its hard not to at times. a lot of negativity on here at times (some deserved) but to be having a go at lescott for playing well is beyond me

I'm one who has criticised his ability on the ball, but so far this season his form has been excellent and his playing skills haven't been a problem. Whether his ability on the ball will become a problem when we're up against some of the better teams only time will tell, but I can't fault the guy too much so far. He's on the brink of becoming a real winner and has come on so much as a player in the past 6 months or so, fair play to him

Mancini has made a decent bunch of defenders into fantastic ones not bad for a player who was a forward, lol

Seriously Freestyler, all you have just done is proved to everybody with a football brain you are clueless when it comes to footballing matters in judging how good a defender is.

Since when do you have to be good on the ball to be a class centre back ? The job of a centre half if you didn't know is to keep the ball out of the net, something which Joleon has proved on a consistent basis.

Is Lescott good on the ball ? NO.

Is Kolo good on the ball ? YES.

Is Lescott an excellent centre back ? YES

Is Kolo an excellent centre back ? NO.

Same comparison can be made with Ferdinand and David Luiz.

You claim he is uncomfortable on the ball when an opposition player is within 5 yards of him ? Do you have any evidence to back your point up or any particular examples of this scenario happening or taking place ?

He has been our best centre back for a long time, and his positional ability is streets ahead of Kompany.

and you've just proved to everybody how you can't read a post properley.

like i said i couldn't care less about his passing, as long as he doesn't hoof ir forward like he used to do.

if were talking about his passing, i'm stating the obvious. because he got something like a 98% passing rate percentage he's suddenly become the best thing since sliced bread!

i was just saying, his passing is his weakest part of his game, i know he's not there to do that job, but i was just highlighting his weakness is passing.

you say where's the evidence, search this board and you'll find ALOT of people saying the same thing.

the above answers my first post, how many times has he put his own player under pressure with a bad pass, and we've lost it? it's happened alot.

anyway all that aside my original post was highlighting his passing game, that's all.

and the last part with Kompany must be a joke right? why did Lescott get dropped against Bayern? ...cause against Napoli he had a disaster and was all over the place, if were talking position wise, that night said everything.

quality defender, but imo our weak link when it comes to playing with the big boys of Europe.
You again Freestyler have just highlighted a few things for all to see. You seriously have a poor knowledge of football.

I'll quote you on a few things now...
like i said i couldn't care less about his passing, as long as he doesn't hoof ir forward like he used to do.
You claim you couldn't care less about his passing. If this is the case why did you feel the need to highlight you felt his passing was a weakness in his game ? You clearly do care about his passing as you felt the need to raise the point originally.

You then go on to COMPLETELY contradict yourself from claiming you don't care about his passing...

Here you say "I'm stating the obvious" referring to his passing, again you are clearly showing you do have an issue with his passing. The fact he has a 98% passing percentage is EXACTLY that, a FACT. If of course you have any FACTS that suggest he is a bad passer you are yet to show them to us.

and the last part with Kompany must be a joke right? why did Lescott get dropped against Bayern? ...cause against Napoli he had a disaster and was all over the place, if were talking position wise, that night said everything.
Firstly you raise the point that Lescott was dropped against Bayern and seem to suggest it's because he isn't good enough. Now then why were the MAJORITY of this board specifically asking why he had been dropped ? I mean come on as you say it was so obvious he had a DISASTER against Napoli that it was surely obvious why he had been dropped. Again as you can see I am backing up my points with FACTS i suggest you do likewise or you are seemingly a huge fail. Oh and do you care to point out the "DISASTERS" which occurred against Napoli through Lescott's making.

You really are a complete thicket, continuously spilling bile without actually having any evidence to back up what you are saying. Try and improve your spelling upon replying also. Thanks.

Lescott is one of the best centre-halfs in the Premier League and I for one am very glad he plays for Manchester City, the partnership he has formed with Vincent Kompany is one of the very best in Europe. Since coming into the back four towards about March last season we have kept 10 clean sheets in 16 Premier League games.

Silva, Balotelli, Aguero, Milner, Dzeko ect will quite rightly get the plaudits from today but Lescott was great again.

Such an underrated defender.

I like Joleoninho. Great defender but not much of a footballer. Do the stats tell us that 99% of the passes were back to the person who passed to him, and/or didn't exceed ten metres?

I have said many times he is the weak link in the defence but must admit he has looked a little more solid of late, as for the pass stats as you say a load of bollox.
