Unless we buy a world class centre half who can fit in straight away and hit the ground running I can't see any logic in letting him go.

I agree entirely. If its not the latter then the only reason I can see him going is because he wants game time to force his way into World Cup contention.
 
Stupid to lose him at this stage of the campaign, we need all the cover we can get. Great pro, as mentioned before and not necessary. I understand JL might want to up his chances of playing in Brasil but its a squad game in the PL and we need him, simple as...
 
Can't see him going anywhere in Jan unless we have a replacement lined up. City hold the cards and he can sign a pre-contract with another club now if he wants but he won't be getting £90K per week anywhere else and the chance for a few more winners medals with us this season too. It looked a mistake to let Kolo Toure and Gaz Baz leave but now we have four fit centre backs and Garcia is showing some good form the wage savings look like a masterstroke last summer. Lescott too is getting older, and his wages are too high for a squad player, he'll more than likely finish the season with us and get to leave as a free agent. If he leaves this month then we'll have a replacement coming in.

Hopefully he will leave with everyone's blessing in the summer with another premiership winners medal round his neck.Also we hope that medal won't be on its own either.
 
At the very end of the game I got the distinct impression that he was talking to his soon-to-be, new team mates. If he does leave for West Ham, I'm sure he'll do his utmost for them too.
 
A very good defender, has served us very well. Has always given 100% and has been proud to wear our shirt. Like the guy as a person and as a player
 
Like to see him stay and win something else before leaving for his last big payday. He was fantastic for us in the 2 seasons we won trophies, ultimately with the change of tactics and his lack of pace he was always going to be a bit part player but there are enough games for him to play in still and he is obviously very liked in the changing room

He can only sign a pre contract with clubs abroad at the minute. In England its 1 month before the end of his deal.

Agree keep him and let him go with hopefully some more medals to show for his time here and a world cup berth
